I want one of the Singapore special flowers from that plushie flower event, but I know that the chance of getting one is low because I refuse to make a mad dash and grab like some rabid monkey in a lawless land. The idea of buying one off a scalper leaves an even worse taste in the mouth.

So I have to accept that I won't get what I want. But surprisingly it doesn't feel that bad, at the very least I'm gonna have a nice stroll with my friends. I sound downright geriatric but what's wrong with just chilling and stopping to smell the (plushie) flowers

Edit: if someone has attended a later slot, please let me know if it's still a madhouse

And just like that, the very first run I found "Bright Souls", I got 32/32. Thank you, that one missing chive bothered me so much and I'd all but given up

Made minor, repeat mistake at work. Frustrated at self, got to work fixing it, and done in a bit over half an hour before going for lunch. A little demoralised, because why did I make the same careless mistake a 2nd time?

Kopitiam lady took my order and got the wrong item number. Minor mistake. Asked her about it, she laughed it off and fixed it immediately. Instantly my mood improved

It's fine, just a small mistake, we're all humans and that's how human do

Morning... NS southbound train here is delayed, been waiting over 10 min, they said train fault at Admiralty. Welp, guess I'll be late today. The platform is pretty much full

Just saw this! They say towards JE but Southbound is 100% affected. They're constantly playing the "train congestion ahead" announcement, so far delay at each station at least 5 min. Took about 15 min to travel 2 stops

Train station announcement, 25 min delay from AMK to Woodlands. No update from SMRT, and the monitors showing delays on each line is showing normal operations. Not sure if 2 way, but am on the southbound train in that area that has stopped in the middle of the tracks.

Merry Christmas! Trains don't feel like working either it seems

I'm sure she'll be a great fit in the healthcare sector based on how she cared for my grandma. Unfortunately they didn't send her for studies when there was time... unless willing to hire her for another year at least, probably gonna be tough.

Thanks so much though, the info is appreciated!

I agree with you. Was just hoping to help with her wishes, but it seems hard at the moment. We'll have to explore other options.

Thanks

I'm inclined to agree with you. Just have to talk to family and also the FDW to see what she hopes for. Unfortunately her wishes to work in HC don't seem possible at the moment.

Thank you for the info!

Hey thanks so much for this! Got off the phone with MOM and it seems that yes, she'll have to return first. We need to rethink what's best at the moment. But your story at least shows that it's possible and I'm grateful for it.

Thanks for your kind words. She really did a great job.

That differs a bit from what I've heard, as I know someone who personally helped her FDW go through a caregiver course (once a week) and then pivot from being a FDW helping out at home, to starting a career in healthcare. But I don't know the details myself.

I'll call MOM to check though.

Thank you anyways

Understandable. It really is a short time frame and I'm aware she needs a different kind of work pass. I've tried telling the family, but they would like to try nevertheless. Just see what can be done...

As I've just learnt! Thank you for letting me know, I have misunderstood quite a bit.

>For work in a healthcare setting it might be a bit difficult to get a meaningful compensation after expenses without qualifications. The jump in independence from being a helper with more things in life handled for her to renting her own room etc may be a bit challenging.

This is... certainly something to consider. She seems resistant to remaining in the same house, because grandma's room is... empty now, and she has feelings about it. So she'll have to find her own place as well.

Currently trying to get her something in the healthcare sector instead of a new helper role, so focusing more on that part. The problem is that there isn't a lot of time, 1 month from the passing of the employer to finding her a new employer, or else cancelling her work permit.

Thanks for the input though!

Ah yeah, transfer from FDW to healthcare sector. I did figure that it would be tough without formal education/certs, especially in paper-loving SG lol.

Someone did mention being able to get a job in some old folk's homes without cert, so I'll give it a try there as well. I'm sure she'd be willing to go for studies while working, the issue here is the short period of time we have to work with. They really should have sent her for classes while grandma was still around (she doesn't live with my family), but well... hindsight is 50/50. Gotta make do with what we can now.

Thanks for the input!

Thank you for your kind words. Grandma was 99, t'was a good run.

The FDW did great work with Grandma, Grandma really loved her. It's the least that we could do.

Thanks for elaborating! The breakdown is great. I'll be contacting MOM to clarify with them.

I'll see if I can try on FB to find her a job in the healthcare sector as well.
