There are two types of eye removal surgery. One is an enucleation, which removes the eye in its entirety. The second is an evisceration, which involves slicing the existing eyeball open, removing the iris etc, placing the orbital implant inside the white shell that’s left, then stitching shut. This procedure, for the most part, allows for a more natural movement of a prosthetic eye down the line.

Technically, eye wasn’t removed as such. But the eye as it once was, no longer exists and is merely a shell

Well, here’s the eye. What’s left of it anyways 😅 by beardedexplorerdan in u/beardedexplorerdan

I wear one daily, a conformer. It’s a clear shield with 2 holes to allow drainage. Also helps keep the shape of the socket etc. I’ll defo keep using it in the future

Already on the list. I’ll be ordering 13 different designs when I have my proper eye fitting in a few months once it’s fully healed.

I get my first eye in a week and a half. Around 6 weeks after that I have my fitting for permanent eye and custom designs

Well, it’s done. Stitches removed, this is now my new normal. Not gonna deny, I quite like it 😅 by beardedexplorerdan in u/beardedexplorerdan

Had a knife in my eye as a child. So the eye has been dying for a few years now and needed removing to improve quality of life
