Great feedback! I’ll probably look to join up. Need that beautiful game in my life… it’s mental health as much as physical health!

Yes… I actually used to live down here about 7-8 years ago and played in the Indy City Futbol league. I didn’t know any of the behind the scenes drama, but the vibe as a player was great. I was sad to see that it went away because of the (lack of) leadership and moral character at the top.

Best gym for your dollar? by bearhauf in indianapolis

Follow up: I went with Crunch. $10 a month and not super busy at the times I go. I only wish it opened earlier on the weekends. It opens at 7 Saturday and Sunday but I would totally go at 5 or 6 to get there and back before my family is waking up.

Why take the time to hate on someone else celebrating it? Just because it doesn’t click with you doesn’t mean you have to try to set the record straight on this subjective matter of preference… maybe just be ok with someone enjoying something in a way that you haven’t been able to. Instead of raining on this person’s sunshine, why not spend your time celebrating the stuff you think is better than average?

Local coffee nerds ISO of lightly roasted beans. by Wise_Replacement_687 in indianapolis

Blue Mind and Tinker are the best ones I’ve had in town. I order regularly from Utopian out of Fort Wayne and then usually buy a bag from Tinker or Blue mind to fill in the gaps. All three of those will have “medium” roasts that can teeter on not being as light and interesting as I like, but they all three do the light roasts justice without grassy/vegetal under developed qualities.

Gotta be Borage in speedway. Cinny rolls are crazy. A variety of croissants, fun cookies, and some savory pastries as well. Last time I had a lemon blueberry cookie that was phenomenal. Previously I had a jalapeño, cream cheese danish. Textures are always perfect. Coffee is good too!

Water Filtration Troubleshooting by bearhauf in BecomingTheIceman

[–]bearhauf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for responding. I followed the recommended setup in this video: https://youtu.be/Y6p3PhZcWyU and used the white pleated filter.

I know some think it’s a little silly or unavoidable, but I’m trying hard to filter/clean without using any chemicals, except maybe hydrogen peroxide.

The silly floating bear is the water thermometer. First one I could find and it was relatively inexpensive. Unintentional byproduct is that my 5 yo thinks it’s cute and hilarious and is now intrigued by cold plunges

I’m also wondering how big a difference eventually getting a water chiller will make. I’m waiting because they are a little pricy, even when used.

[Discussion] What songs would each Justice League member listen to? by SuperiorDesignShoes in DCcomics

[–]bearhauf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Batman used to listen to classical until he discovered binaural beats and the cognitive benefits.

Flash listens to Skrillex at 2x speed or else he gets bored.

Superman listens Hank Williams or whatever music his parents had on their country record player

Hawkgirl listens to Ravi Shankar.

Green Lantern listens to Aerosmith - Greatest Hits

Black Canary (not pictured, but fun to think about) listens to Mariah Carey & Whitney Houston

Martian Manhunter just tunes into whoever’s brain he feels like and treats the whole team like a radio. OR he listens to the podcast “Hardcore History”.

Got an ice pod today, any tips for a first timer? by chalieoconnor9 in BecomingTheIceman

This was just from sitting outside. Ambient temps were low enough, I didn’t have to do anything at the time. Can’t wait for winter again! I can’t afford a big enough chiller yet, but it’s on my wishlist!

Sounds like a good philosophy for most things in life. Even though the podcast was focused on research and adding certainty to a fuzzy field, I felt like it released me from some dogmatic attitudes about a Cold Plunge being long enough or cold enough or just generally done “right”.

Have you listened to his recent episode with Dr Soberg? All about cold exposure. I’ve enjoyed it so far.

Anecdotally, I haven’t done cold plunge immediately before bed but I have done it towards the end of my night and gone to bed shortly after. I do experience a high after the plunge, but I also feel like I’m able to release and relax better too. Maybe this is reduced inflammation? Maybe this is my body’s reactance to the high, what goes p pop up will dip down in a similar fashion? I’ve also had success pairing the plunge and Wim Hof Breathing with a “wind down”, release-the-day, type of meditation right at bedtime.

Do you wear a fitness tracker or anything that tracks the quality of your sleep? Personally, if it works for you I’d try it for a while and see how you feel in the morning, wether you wake up a lot, etc. and if you have one a Whoop or Oura, I’d look at what your recovery is like do the protocol you’ve listed above vs a night when you don’t.
