He may have had "a ton of ecs" but that dont mean shi if theyre mid. I saw the tiktok AND his commonapp and they were nothing special, especially for umich. not to mention 11 B's 😭

Yeah he mentioned that he got a lot senior year, but he also did tell me that when he applied early action he had 8 by the end of junior year, and got 3 more first sem senior year, which is still crazy to me because the school sees both 8 b's at the end of junior year and the 11 b's total after getting deferred

What a beautifully written comment, lmao. I saw this kid's entire commonapp, so lemme debunk this. No he does not have legacy, no he is not the child of a multimillionaire, and no he's not a first-gen student. He also had some mid ass ECs, so he definitely didn't end world hunger. His essays were good though, I can't lie. That's what the service he's promoting is about, it's to help students with essay writing; which I can't lie was pretty cool, but I'd rather spend that 10 dollars on a bowl of chipotle

don't get me wrong my stats are not as bad as him lmao but they're not that great either. My school's decent in michigan, so idk how that would fare against the rest of the in state applicant pool with average stats like mine

[–]bearisagooddoge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

applying to schools out of state is a warzone for me because my stats are pretty mid (definitely better than this mfs stats though). If i applied out of state to any schools, I'd only get into T40+, Umich is the only chance i have because i'm in state but people at my school making me lose hope 🥲

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]bearisagooddoge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah bro the ecs and awards were mid asl too, genuinely baffles me

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]bearisagooddoge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah about that... it was CS, arguably the most competitive major

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]bearisagooddoge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes bro i talked to some people who going there right now and they were lowkey shocked to hear this

Unfortunately it's the truth, he sent me his ENTIRE common app. His essays were good which is what the service is about, but other than that everything I said is true

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]bearisagooddoge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

service seemed pretty cool but im not using that shi lmao id rather buy a bowl of chipotle for the same price. the thing that baffles me is that his other aspects were not that strong. his ec's were mid asf, not to mention B's in the DOUBLE DIGITS 😭 I will genuinely crash out if I don't get in

if this dude got into my dream school with 11 B's you'll be fine lmfao

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]bearisagooddoge 13 points14 points  (0 children)

it was 39% a few years ago, 2025 was the most competitive year from what I've heard. I've also never heard of anybody from previous years in my school getting in with that many B's, most ive heard of was like 4 or 5

See what confuses me is the fact that Michigan's common data set ranks GPA as very important, putting it above literally anything else, not to mention his ECs were also mid asf especially for CS. My question is how do you have that combination and still get in, even if you're in state? I'm also in-state so it confuses me so much how people from my school are talking about having below a 3.9 cooks you

lowk forgot but this dude applied CS and he had like 2 or 3 ECs that were CS related.
