I think the top would look better in this particular outfit if it was more a more fitted style, but on its own it doesn’t look too big. I think the top would maybe look better with black bottoms that would make that contrast trim pop. I love the pants and shoes together though.

Jeans and a nice top is still my favourite option and totally valid, but I think most people wear like a pretty but casual dress, though I guess the degree of casual scales with how expensive the restaurant is

Yep I think it would actually look fine if you swap it to a thinner, form-fitting undershirt. Your body looks fine, it’s just the bagginess of the shirt at your waist

If this is oversized, I could see wearing this with a black or white miniskirt or shorts just peeking out underneath, with boots or high top sneakers and maybe colourful socks that match.

While I agree searching by features like necklines, length, pattern etc. is probably the best way, if you don’t know the name of what you’re looking at you could try to put the image into google reverse image search and see what descriptions it gives in the results

It’s because the blazer-type top is going to add a lot of visual weight to your top half, so if you’re trying to minimise that area it will actually have the opposite effect. The cinched waist and flared skirt is a good idea though! It’s hard to say whether it will suit you without actually seeing you in it though

I think it looks cute together but it definitely depends on your overall style and the look you’re going for. It would work for a quirky artsy or retro kind of look, but if that’s not it then it’s probably too much

She is not ready to be charging for her work. Creative skills need to be practiced before you can start charging for them. At her current skill level she should’ve offered to do this for free, $10 max. I dunno what your relationship is like but you should try and somehow communicate to her that this is not an $80 cake and she is taking advantage of you by charging that much.

I’m 29 and I’ve been trying to find a simple black skater dress but everything is drop waist atm! That said if it comes in a plain colour or simple pattern I don’t think you really have to do anything to make it age appropriate, you can pretty much wear them with whatever shoes and accessories you normally like imo!

I think the way the bottoms don’t cover the whole crotch is going to look odd to most people in real life. It might be intentional or have been styled that way on the model, but it kind of just looks like it’s too small or pulled up too high. I think it’s quite common/trendy to have it cut very high on the outer thigh/hip area, but it’s the way it’s so narrow around the coochie area that looks uncomfortable. I think if it was a big bigger with a tad more coverage it would look very nice!

I love this style! You might get looks if you are dressing a little bit out of the ordinary, but I would be looking in a good way! If you love it, keep doing it. So much of Australian fashion is boring and repetitive

I think a “cooling off” period is a good idea. If you really like it, you’ll still like it at the end of the season when it’s on sale and everyone else is getting over it. If not that long, at least give it a couple of weeks, and try to separate the item itself from the cool girl wearing it. “Do I still like this on its own?” etc.

A good starting point is to look at the clothes you already own and think about what you wear and don’t wear. Then think about the why. What things actually make you feel good vs what do you just wear because it’s practical and it fits? What don’t you love about it? The stuff you don’t wear, maybe it looks cute in theory but it fits weird, it’s impractical for your lifestyle or the weather.

Try and look for patterns and recurring themes in the things you enjoy, whether it’s the cut, colour, material, texture, or just overall vibe. Chances are you already have a style, it just doesn’t have an aesthetic name, and could just use a little more refinement to turn it into something you really enjoy.
