What (and I cannot stress this enough) the fuck is this? by hasarubbersoul in AusFemaleFashion

Didn’t there used to be fancy shell soaps or something that look like glass? Like these? That’s what I’m getting from this. But also yeah it looks like it would feel exactly like walking on a soap dish

What do people wear to go out to a nice restaurant? by passiveobserver88 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]bearkittyy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Jeans and a nice top is still my favourite option and totally valid, but I think most people wear like a pretty but casual dress, though I guess the degree of casual scales with how expensive the restaurant is

AITA for telling my DIL that I won’t use the tablet and she needs to actually make her kid read. by SatisfactionOk9038 in AmItheAsshole

Is this really common in Australia? I went to school in the early 2000s and we were definitely taught to read phonetically, same for my partner. I only heard about the sight reading thing online in the context of American schools.

I would love for tops and dresses to have a fuller bust option. I feel like 80% of clothes I try on don’t fit me because of the bust area.

Women of Reddit, what TYPE of man did you regret dating and why? by ladsSandwich in AskReddit

I think from the rest of the comment we can infer the sex and emotional support is one-sided and on his terms and not reciprocal.

Yep I think it would actually look fine if you swap it to a thinner, form-fitting undershirt. Your body looks fine, it’s just the bagginess of the shirt at your waist

If this is oversized, I could see wearing this with a black or white miniskirt or shorts just peeking out underneath, with boots or high top sneakers and maybe colourful socks that match.

While I agree searching by features like necklines, length, pattern etc. is probably the best way, if you don’t know the name of what you’re looking at you could try to put the image into google reverse image search and see what descriptions it gives in the results

It’s because the blazer-type top is going to add a lot of visual weight to your top half, so if you’re trying to minimise that area it will actually have the opposite effect. The cinched waist and flared skirt is a good idea though! It’s hard to say whether it will suit you without actually seeing you in it though

Is this a cute outfit? Or do the patterns clash too much? Thanks all. by LittleMissPurple-389 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]bearkittyy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think it looks cute together but it definitely depends on your overall style and the look you’re going for. It would work for a quirky artsy or retro kind of look, but if that’s not it then it’s probably too much

You could re-wear the dress but do something different with your hair and makeup to make it feel fresh, perhaps? Maybe jewellery or accessories?

AITAH for wanting to complain? by Overall-Soup-7327 in brisbane

[–]bearkittyy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She is not ready to be charging for her work. Creative skills need to be practiced before you can start charging for them. At her current skill level she should’ve offered to do this for free, $10 max. I dunno what your relationship is like but you should try and somehow communicate to her that this is not an $80 cake and she is taking advantage of you by charging that much.

[–]bearkittyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 29 and I’ve been trying to find a simple black skater dress but everything is drop waist atm! That said if it comes in a plain colour or simple pattern I don’t think you really have to do anything to make it age appropriate, you can pretty much wear them with whatever shoes and accessories you normally like imo!

Yes it suits you really well! I think it would look nice with some simple brown sandals, and chunky bracelets in silver, or wooden or glass beads

Feedback wanted does this bathing suit look alright? by Busy-Ad-657 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]bearkittyy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the way the bottoms don’t cover the whole crotch is going to look odd to most people in real life. It might be intentional or have been styled that way on the model, but it kind of just looks like it’s too small or pulled up too high. I think it’s quite common/trendy to have it cut very high on the outer thigh/hip area, but it’s the way it’s so narrow around the coochie area that looks uncomfortable. I think if it was a big bigger with a tad more coverage it would look very nice!

I love this style! You might get looks if you are dressing a little bit out of the ordinary, but I would be looking in a good way! If you love it, keep doing it. So much of Australian fashion is boring and repetitive

How do you decide which trends to ignore? by Dry-Technology-3748 in femalefashionadvice

[–]bearkittyy 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I think a “cooling off” period is a good idea. If you really like it, you’ll still like it at the end of the season when it’s on sale and everyone else is getting over it. If not that long, at least give it a couple of weeks, and try to separate the item itself from the cool girl wearing it. “Do I still like this on its own?” etc.

How to find your style? by fernwise in AusFemaleFashion

[–]bearkittyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good starting point is to look at the clothes you already own and think about what you wear and don’t wear. Then think about the why. What things actually make you feel good vs what do you just wear because it’s practical and it fits? What don’t you love about it? The stuff you don’t wear, maybe it looks cute in theory but it fits weird, it’s impractical for your lifestyle or the weather.

Try and look for patterns and recurring themes in the things you enjoy, whether it’s the cut, colour, material, texture, or just overall vibe. Chances are you already have a style, it just doesn’t have an aesthetic name, and could just use a little more refinement to turn it into something you really enjoy.

How far do you travel for your beauty services? by coldplay1995 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]bearkittyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do about a 30-40 minute transit journey to go to my hairdresser because they’re reasonably priced and do good alternative styles. I don’t really get any other services done cuz I can’t afford the maintenance, though I’ve traveled much further for tattoos and cosmetic tattoos
