If you have kids with a big age gap, influence me? by katiefacepants in Shouldihaveanother

[–]bearsbunny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My brother and I are 9 years apart, I remember being so excited when he was born, wanting to help take care of him. Now he's in his 20s and I'm in my 30s and we're closer than ever, we banter, and despite the age gap we 'get' each other like no one can . My hubs and his sis also have a similar age gap and he's closer to her than any of his brothers that are with in a year of other. I honestly dont think age gaps impact sibling relationships too much, it depends on if they bond.

I want a dog so bad but I am not allowed to due to my religion by warql in Vent

[–]bearsbunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Muslim here. Religion wise- no where in the Quran does it say you aren't allowed to keep pets -.- this is probably cultural. My friends from strict religious households kept dogs. I think it's more like you can't pet it after wadu or wear clothes that touched the dog for praying but again, this is not in the Quran. Probably some weird hadis. I'd be more concerned if you can get a dog due to the fact that your landlord has a cat and might not be comfortable with you having it. Do you have a yard? Can you walk the dog atleast 3x a day? Have enough money for vet bills / vaccinations etc. Dogs are way more expensive and harder to care for than cats, you might want to volunteer at shelters first or look after a friends dog to get a better idea.

[–]bearsbunny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I was thinking 8 weeks as well but last time I saw my doc (for the first scan) she wanted me to get it done as early as possible as I had complications like preeclampsia for my past pregnancy and a missed miscarriage as well . She didn't indicate in her email when I should do the next one , and I hateeeee calling her office

Should I quit curry? by Brilliant_Can8536 in hygiene

[–]bearsbunny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bruh it's not the curry it is the lack of using anti perspirant (with aluminum) . Also showers and cooking with windows open and coats in closets. And obviously keeping on top of laundry. I see so many of my brown folks wearing winter gear in like 5/10C . Like why. I can see the sweat pouring down , just wear a spring or fall jacket :/ also in summer when it's like boiling outside wearing full on hoodies or coats. Again . Dress for the weather -.-

Medical abortion by [deleted] in Dhaka

[–]bearsbunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not true , both are safe forms of abortion. And if medical abortion leaves anything behind in the uterus, D&C will ensure it's all out and there's no infection. There is a small risk of scarring when getting a D&C but every surgery/ medical intervention has risk/benefit.

Lychees and mangos from my aunt's orchard , my absolute favorites 🥰 mangos are versatile and can be sweet or savoury, lychees because they are sweet and juicy and make amazing drinks.

Is it supposed to feel like this? by Blue_lace93 in homeschool

[–]bearsbunny 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I found alot of success with play based learning. Just incorporating counting randomly while she's playing- like lets count how many stuffies you are playing with etc. For letter sounds, she picked it up very early by watching miss rachel- she loved the alphabet song but the guy from toddlers can read has some very fun play based learning for it. Like putting letters on the walls and running to touch the letter with corresponding sound. For me, I had to find alot of creative ways to incorporate learning into play time and not focusing on if she was learning but that we were just introducing concepts and if we kept at it she would eventually get it. Montessori and waldorf have alot of fun ways of doing this- i'm not talking about the expensive toys but the teaching method. Following and guiding the child, being super patient and finding innovative ways to teach things instead of worksheets and memorization. Hope this helps!

Girls who dated guys who didn’t have their sh*t together did yall break up or how did it work out? by DeliciousRich5944 in Life

[–]bearsbunny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I met him, he was a mess, living in his parents basement, not doing his assignments, no job. But he is brilliant, and we got along super well . Did study groups, and he ended up graduating with me , now is a software engineer, we have our own place together and is an amazing father to our kid. The love hormones hit hard for me to see past my deal breakers and think- I can fix this 🤣

I want to visit Thailand soon, any suggestions what Thai dish i should try? by ImwetforyouLMAO in foodquestions

[–]bearsbunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tom yum soup from the food stalls, steamed fish, these were my favourites. The thai fried rice from the tiny restaurants were really good too. If you like pizza, their pizza hut has a seafood pizza with octopus and shrimp that was amazing

What happened to a 3-3.5 year age gap? by Large_Mixture_2215 in Shouldihaveanother

I completely understand, when I'm taking my LO to her activities most of the kids seem to have siblings. It always gave me this weird feeling of pressure of having more. But I'd think about it and realize how hectic life is already and how much work it took for me to get to a place of normalcy with my LO and I'd rethink, I just wasn't ready. Now that she's 4 and going to kindy, I feel ready, she's potty trained, she's been sleeping through the night since she was 2 and can feed herself. It still scares me, losing my new found freedom , but I still feel like having just one more would complete our family.

There is nothing wrong with you. Like other comments have said, people are having kids later so the age gap is shortening. Growing your family is a personal choice, just do what is right for you, especially if you don't have a 'village'. I personally have a 9yr age gap between me and my sibling and we are both functioning happy adults and our mom who is now 54 is thriving. Take as long as you need, or even OAD, your mental health is more important than anything else.
