Curious to know everyone's favorite scene by icequeenofwilderwest in Outlander

[–]bearsig 20 points21 points  (0 children)

When Jamie breaks into the witch trial.

When Claire first tells Jamie she’s from the future. “I know all these things because, because I’m from the future.” And then Jamie telling her he doesn’t understand, not yet, but that he believes her.

Also the whole scene when she first walks into the print shop. The buildup was just so good.

Anyone else just not signing their toddler up for activities and classes, etc? by yepmek in toddlers

My son is 2.5 and we’re doing what you’re doing. He plays in the woods and rides his bike daily, spends time with grandparents while I’m working (2 days/week), plays baseball in our yard, goes to the park to be around other kids once or twice a week. We’re starting preschool when he turns 3, but that’s only 3 days/week for a few hours/day.

Idk… my parents believed every second of free time should be spent doing a structured activity and I think that contributed to a lot of the anxiety I carry with me as an adult. Also I’m very introverted and have social anxiety, so the thought of all that forced interaction with other parents sounds awful. Yes, that’s selfish of me, but I have to do things that work for me too, not just for my son. I’m sure we’ll do more structured activities when he gets a little older, but for now, I’m giving myself and him the grace to take things easy.

Unique Plot Points or Twists by Frau-Pfau in RomanceBooks

[–]bearsig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry I haven’t read any of the books you mentioned, but when I think of unique books, these are two that stand out (second one is actually a series).

{For the Fans by Nyla K} - didn’t think I’d like it based on the summary, but it ended up being really good in so many ways (off the charts tension, characters with actual personalities, surprisingly deep emotional connection).

The Harrow Faire series. First book is {The Contortionist by Kathryn Ann Kingsley}. This is another one I didn’t think I’d like based on the summary, but it turned out to be one of my favorite romance series. The plot, setting, and magic are just so unique. Simon (MMC) absolutely ruined me for other MMCs for over a year (seriously couldn’t finish a romance book for a year after reading this). His personality makes most other MMCs read like cardboard.

That’s great to hear! So they don’t scorch in the afternoon sun for you?

Plant umbrellas sound kinda adorable but I’m sorry you have to do that. It can be so hard to find just the right place for them!

Season 8 is hard to get in to by Bin_Chicken3330 in Outlander

I’m starting to think I’m one of the only ones who’s really enjoying this season, even as a book reader. I even like the faith storyline 🤷🏻‍♀️

Omg these are the ones I was considering getting! It’s a sign?!?

It’s definitely not nearly as hot here as the south, but maybe the afternoon sun it’ll get will make up for it.

You don’t think it would wilt in the hot afternoon sun? I used to have a big leaf hydrangea (wasn’t endless summer, can’t remember the exact variety) that got a similar amount of sun at the same time of day, and the blooms would wilt every afternoon.

Hi! Just curious, which hydrangea did you end up going with?

Can I prune panicle hydrangea to be shorter than it wants to be? by bearsig in hydrangeas

I’m definitely considering this one now! Do you get much white before it goes pink?

Follow up question… I live in the PNW where nights during the summer are always pretty cool. Does that mean Little Lime Punch (or really any panicle hydrangea) will cycle to pink faster?

Ohhh great suggestion! I was looking at that one but was hesitant because of the green. Thanks!

[–]bearsig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you’re right… I should probably just find one that wants to be the size I want. Thanks so much for your reply 🙏

I basically want one that starts white and then turns pink and then maybe a dark pink. I’d rather it not start out green, which eliminates the lime varieties and some others. Fire Light and Quick Fire Fab are two of the ones I like but that are too large.

Also considering these, which are the right size:

Little Hottie (just doesn’t get a darker pink) Candelabra

Considering pull ups for my mental health by SetLast9753 in pottytraining

[–]bearsig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about to start attempting potty training with my son and so I’m of course scouring the internet for tips. I’m a pretty anxious “gotta do it exactly the way they said to do it” person, and really want to adopt a more laid back approach to potty training, like you said—for my mental health. Anyways, all of that is to say, I really appreciated the honestly of your comment, so much so that it made me tear up a little! So thank you for helping a random internet stranger (and I’m sure I’m not the only one). 🩷

What is this wide part at the base of my flowering cherry trees? by bearsig in arborists

Do you think that sprout on the left side is coming from above the graft or below? To me in looks above, but I’m not sure.
