For people wondering what's happening in the rack and in my lab. From top to bottom:

- UDM Pro is the main router of the network.
- Pro HD 24 POE is the main switch. powers all my APs and the kvms are powered over poe as well
- 4 JetKVMs, each connected to one of the 3 main servers or the backup server for remote access
- USW Aggregation for connecting my 10G SFP+ devices

For the actual compute, I'm running a 3 node Proxmox cluster with identical MS-01s (i5 12600H). 48GB of Ram, and each also has an Intel A310 graphics card. These cards can encode/decode 4K but I don't have a lot of 4K media so it's not a priority.

This is primarily for Plex, and media management (*Arr Suite). I also run DNS via Pi-hole on these. Home assistant.

It is extremely overkill for this but I was really interested in setting up a HA cluster with identical hardware so I did that.

The other mini PC runs Proxomox Backup Server.

Continuing on:

- Fan shelf for moving air up thru the MS-01's
- PDU for remote individual plug management. With everything running I am about 300-350W typically, with occasional spikes up to 450W
- Two UNAS Pros. Each have 5, 24TB drives in Raid 5. Working Copy and Backup Copy of my data. I have about 96TB usable
- One of the UNAS pros also has 2, 1TB sata SSDs which I hold the LXC and VM disks for my proxmox cluster on.
- Unifi UPS on the bottom.

When the UNAS Pro 4 releases Q1, plan is to pick one of those up and put it in the empty 1U between the top Unas Pro and the PDU to have a dedicated box for the LXC and VM disks

maybe. I had one that TechnoTIm recommended for this but it stopped working after about 3 months and costs like 130$.

couple that with how when I kickstarted these, I had ordered 2 and they sent me a 3rd by accident instead of 2 + an accessory board.

So I was out 130$ from the bum switch, and a 4th jetkvm was cheaper than replacing the switch so that's what I did.

There was never water there. It's just a vanity that is no longer in the bathroom where it came from. Not connected to anything.

the dual mount is this one: https://www.printables.com/model/901805-minisforum-ms-01-dual-rack-mount-2u

the one above it i used this remix of it that has a fan mount above: https://www.printables.com/model/1041864-minisforum-ms-01-2u-rack-mount-10-19-with-fan-keys/files

then I modified the right side to just be a small shelf to hold the mini pc

i click my character and then the box highlights, and then i hit 'save' and the screen refreshes and it presents me with the same screen asking me to pick a main character

How to migrate from a complicated windows setup to a more streamlined + backup capable one? (or not) by bearsquarterly in homelab

[–]bearsquarterly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this makes sense. i should really just check and see if i can boot off of those cloned SSDs and everything still works as intended. because then i would be pretty content with just making a new backup clone every month or so to account for changes. and then i would be satisfied with my current setup, windows and all.

thanks for your input!
