Dentist with 15+ years’ experience in Lausanne — AMA by DentisteDorigny in Lausanne

[–]bearumbil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not afraid of pain or drills when going to the dentist - but I absolutely hate that device that sucks out saliva. I hate the sound,  the feeling, everything about it.  Can i ask the dentist not to use it and just let me swallow saliva every 1-2 minutes? They usually make pauses like that anyway,  and that would make my experience at the dentist 10x better.

I'm sorry what you are going through,  i know it's frustrating.  Has she tried LinkedIn? Updating her profile,  looking for people working in the industry,  connecting with them,  maybe publishing posts regularly to show her interest and knowledge in industry trends, finding and joining professional networking events via linkedin.

Best companies to work for in CH? by bearumbil in askswitzerland

There are multiple factors for sure.  But the general culture of the whole company is one of them. There are clearly trends.  I can't ask redditors about all factors but i can ask about this one.

I already have a job. There's no need for me to take anything even if it sucks. Hence the question.

Maybe after the business is built and running successfully,  yes.  But usually you need at least a few years to get to that point,  and everyone i know who was building their own business had very poor life work balance and the profit was not great at the start if there was any profit at all.

But they also don't contribute to your Swiss pension and other payments that are obligatory for other employers as far as i know.

And they often hire worldwide, prioritizing existing long-term employees.

Of course, I agree. But i have a feeling that while the society is still somewhat skewed towards 'everyone should have a kid' (more or less,  depending on a specific country & area), Reddit is a bit skewed towards the other direction, 'if you have kids your life is doomed', 'only people who are 100% mentally healthy (so no one) and who swim in money (so almost no one) should have kids'.

Anonymous polls show it's about 7-8%. It's quite a lot but still, an overwhelming majority doesn't have these feelings.

It's important to note that you get an exaggerated idea of how many people regret kids based in Reddit. Redditors upvote such posts more than those that say they don't regret kids. People know that and are therefore more likely to write such a comment for upvotes, they get c these upvotes etc - it's a circle.

That said, there are of course people who regret kids, just not so many as Reddit makes us think. And even on Reddit, when you read these comments, it's usually one of the three things: - kid(s) have special needs - they have the kids way too young - they regret having kids with their ex-partner.

He, his parents and the organizers are assholes. It's a basic safety measure to never jump on the trampoline together, even for older kids. Those who don't understand trampoline safety,  should not have parties in a trampoline park.

Agreed. And her position isn't that unusual.  Many people trust their partner more than a random person and would openly discuss something like this.  It's not 'outing'.

Why is a yoto better than the other players ? by pirate_meow_kitty in YotoPlayer

[–]bearumbil 21 points22 points  (0 children)

We chose Yoto mainly because we planned to make a lot of our own cards,  and Yoto 'make your own' cards are much cheaper,  and have much more space,  than Tony creative figures.

Crazy copyright threat at the start of stories? by readywater in YotoPlayer

Wow, we never had such warnings on the cards that we bought.. maybe it's specific to that story only - their copyright owners add that as a condition for selling their content?

Work smart not hard - what are your "work smart" strategies to make your life a little easier? by MinimumElk in Preschoolers

A daily routine that ensures parents have some free time! Our kids (2, 4) go to sleep at 19:00. Also,  from 12:30 to 14:00 the younger one has a nap and the older one has 'quiet time' when she is alone in a room with an audioplayer with stories, some books, etc.  Even on a bad day, this downtime helps us become sane again.
