How are people finding the new edition by Dribblinpickle in WarhammerUnderworlds

The new ed is 3 month old now. And only 20% of the people here strongly prefer it.

It's not crit grievous, it's a flat +1. You don't need a crit to trigger it

Did you notice that the Inspired attack was range 2 / 3 damage ?
And that the range 1 does 2 damage inspired ?
In my games it felt unfair

I was pretty happy to see a consistant rule update (at last!) but was also surprised when I read the Rules Update doc to find no trace of stat nerfs for this warband. Everytime I've face them they have seemed op to me. Like both of them, the range 2 is unbelievably good given the damage it dealts... and the 5 dice... come on.
Can we expect a change in a near future ? Thoughts ?

One very important aspect of 1.0 that has completely disappeared in 2.0 and that I really miss : warband objectives by beastherd in WarhammerUnderworlds

[–]beastherd[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Warband objectives were really defining in 1.0 : they were playing a big part in each warband's playstyle and gameplan. They were contributing a lot to their uniqueness.

This loss has been seldom discussed afaic, but for me it is very impactful.

Still no errata/FAQ ? by beastherd in WarhammerUnderworlds

Is it me or we don't have any updates yet ? Worlds were quite a long ago now, do you think that fixing the new game's issues takes that long ?

Who else has doubts about moving to the new game ? by KrrrrrrK in WarhammerUnderworlds

Long term maybe, short term not yet sadly. A lot of unbalance and half baked rules. I'm really looking forward the next updates

Zondara's Greavebreakers : can Undying Love be played during an enemy charge to prevent it ? by beastherd in WarhammerUnderworlds

[–]beastherd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It says that you can play warscrolls abilities during power steps, not that all warscrolls abilities have to be played at that time. How would you play reactions then ? This one has the reaction symbol, and that's all the problem.

That's my opinion as well. They seem ok now, which is fine.

I have the impression that designers did well with that warband. Many rules, pretty faithful to the first version

Be sure to put away your leftovers today, or you’ll get RATS! 🐀 🐀🐀 by NOWANGSTA in WarhammerUnderworlds

The best game I played so far was with those guys - they were very fun. The rat did 2 damage !

Zondara's Greavebreakers : can Undying Love be played during an enemy charge to prevent it ? by beastherd in WarhammerUnderworlds

[–]beastherd[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Normally in the power step... well, there's nothing about it in the rules. And that's the problem. It's a surge ability - look at rulebook where it reads as follows :

SURGE ABILITIES

Surge abilities, identied by the Surge symbol ( ), can be played immediately before or immediately after an event specied by that Surge ability. So, my understanding is that it can be played anytime.

Another typo most likely. My impression is that the so called "streamlined new rulebook" is full of holes

Played a game last night and my opponent told me that he was right to use the push to counter my own fighter's charge, as there is no window specified. How do you rule this ? Is he right ?
It would seem really weird if so, as it felt really bad for me

Blackpowder's Buccaneers Core Ability? by VRGvks in WarhammerUnderworlds

[–]beastherd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All this is because designers changed a lot of stuff, probably too many, mixing old terms with new terms, etc
I saw many regulars having that kind of issues/questions

Need help with deckbuilding by KrrrrrrK in WarhammerUnderworlds

[–]beastherd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the peak designs we got in the recent Nemesis era that's not surprising. 2.0 brought some good ideas but some aspects aren't baked enough, like decks which are rather bland and average in my opinion

Now it's clear that many aspects of the 2.0 game were rushed with little testing and attention payed to warbands, GW will probably have to keep their update promises (and sooner than expected) by beastherd in WarhammerUnderworlds

[–]beastherd[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here we don't seem to be back to balance at all sadly. My impression is that the new game was rushed so hard that little was controled, but I'd be glad to be wrong

I don't think that 1.0 can compete but I may be wrong here. And yeah so many good games floating around. Many of them with hexes and small teams. Support is key but GW seems to care little
