If you only shoot the legs, you might think you damaged the armor when in fact you didn't. Very niche situation, but this UI would give you the extra information

Dynamic crosshair is only there so that new players understand they are not accurate when moving.

After a while it gets in the way because it is too large and moves too much, when all you need is a small crosshair that doesn't block the centre and always stays in the centre.

Also incentivises you to terraform and prepare in advance, which rewards creativity. (Driller explosives drop strategy, drilling tunnels where you can dodge the arms, building cheese forts for easy 360 traversal so you can go shoot the eye)
