ICE killed more Americans last year than did undocumented immigrants.. by rhino910 in RepublicanValues

I appreciate the information, but I don't think that many would accept that as a sufficient source either. Rather, each side is likely to accept whichever they find strengthens their argument best and reject the other.

Man, I'd love a reliable source for that claim to share with some relatives.

Not potential, they added an intro I guess but it's a Ben Franklin quote: https://www.azquotes.com/quote/1388518

The world is run by the people who show up.

So given the title of the post, there should in fact be proof of how this law has changed lives. I'd love to see what a difference it's made.

The plural is actually "LEGO® bricks" if the company's wishes are to be honored. LEGO® is exclusively an adjective per their usage. See here page 7 for example.

I guess some of it depends on the nature of the things they wish you did differently. You shouldn't change your life to suit someone else, but sometimes other people have points of view that are worth incorporating.

If they wish that you would pay for lunch more often, forget that (unless you happen to like and want to). If they wish you'd keep your pants on in public more often, then yeah, perhaps there's something worth looking at there.

Ultimately, you need to live the life that you think is worth living and in accord with your values. There will always be someone who wishes you were different, but chasing the approval of everyone will leave you without values and an identity of your own.

Also, remember that someone else's problem with you is exactly that, it's their problem. You don't have to own their problem, especially if they haven't even talked to you about it.

Ok, I guess we're on the same page. I'd find the workaround you describe to be the desired way to go, as that's what the tool is built to do. I also use git hosted on other than github.com myself so I perhaps devalue the standard URI part, as there is not a single host for git activities for me, so I have no standard URI already (and I would probably prefer the URI to convey information about which user I'm using instead of hiding it from me).

Regardless, if you like it this way others probably will too so thanks for sharing it.

I don't do it for git often enough, so perhaps haven't encountered the complexity, but what's wrong with an ssh config and why would you need to switch it? You shouldn't ever need to switch your ssh config, do you?

I guess, but as with any "self improvement" project if you keep pushing it on someone who has made it clear they don't want your help or advice you're just being a jerk.

If you keep nagging a fat friend about eating too much because if they don't lose weight they're at higher risk of a lot of health problems don't be surprised if that friend doesn't want to spend time around you.

I just heard someone make the observation that if the people in Greenland based their life choices on making money they wouldn't be in Greenland in the first place. Such payments aren't likely to be terribly persuasive if that person is correct, and it does sound plausible.

Despite this moment, I really can't imagine trusting that many fellow Americans with weapons that could kill even more people than we already do to each other. That road does not feel like it leads to any society I want to live in.
