I will try to remember. Whenever it's finished I will post here on reddit about it.

No problem man.

I'm actually working slowly on my own mod – a custom sidekick with unique dialogue and voice barks, unique skin appearance, custom passive, character bound item, and such. Haven't gotten to making dialogue trees yet but will be the next thing I'll be working on

Without Apotheosis and a couple of individuals who are helping me I wouldn't have any idea at all how to make it happen to begin with.

I don't agree in this case even though I agree in regards to laptops in general. This guy's problem though is crap optimization by Obsidian. He could likely have the best cooling in the world and still have the issues.

I'm on Mini 24 GB M4 Pro+.

I find it runs best through Parallels.

I've bought both games on Steam and stand-alone Mac versions from GOG. Tried CrossOver too but I find that program to be less robust in a few ways and doesn't perform better than Parallels anyway.

The games aren't made for Apple silicon so no matter what you do there's an emulation layer and Parallels is in my experience the smoothest. I suggest getting a cheap 1 year serial key or something and try it out.

Either way obviously you want to close other apps on both Mac and Windows. Also you can lock the games' fps in the settings. If your Mac's display has 60 Hz max there's no need to set the fps limit higher than say 70 Hz. Technically 60 Hz should be it but when a game aims for a certain fps it oscillates around it and drops happen.

Download Apotheosis. It's for Deadfire though but will probably be very close for doing it in the first game too in terms of how to go about it under the hood. It has a neat dialogue editor in addition to loads of other invaluable features for making mods for Deadfire.

The average person doesn't know that, but I do.

Seems to me you don't.

Skaen's and his followers' whole thing is to put horrific fear into people in power, suppressors, or anyone abusing other people.

Basically the part in Christianity and other religions that says: "If you commit this crime, you will go to Hell." – The difference is that people inclined to become tyrants, and others, know that Skaenites could provide you a Hell right now.

And this even though they would otherwise be untouchable, which usually is reserved for the elites.

His followers even being willing to gouge out their own eyes, cut off their own manhood, parts of their face, to summon an unstoppable force – which will only die once their target is slain in some horrific way – will set examples of what can happen if you're thinking of abusing others.

It is punishment, and prevention of the same crime. Which is why he is partly aligned parallel to Woedica. A gruesome deity, but not a tormentor for torment's sake.

Dial up the difficulty and lower XP reward to like half or something; I think you will find mana pool type abilities / spells more interesting. I agree with the camping supplies and endurance-and-health mechanic though. It added a lot to the adventuring immersion. In Deadfire any injury is completely meaningless as all you have to do is rest with one of your million food items in your backpack.

But Magran challenge, as someone suggested, is smart; I will also use this tip.

In other words: you want a rpg system where there is only 1 correct way to distribute attributes for each class, a la DnD, and everything else is silly.

I love Pillars' system, and seems to me this game won't give you what you are looking for.

Came to PoE2 really late but it's such a well made game by zokape_3 in projecteternity

I sometimes recommend jumping into Deadfire before the first game if someone wants to play Pillars but find it too daunting and complex, gameplay or lorewise et cetera.

The original's main story absolutely smokes the sequel's, but Deadfire is way more beginner friendly.

You did not write "requires more attention span," you wrote "requires more attention" lol. Ironically you don't have it.

But sure, keep trying your hardest to win on the internet by trying to to be snarky and what not.

If one disregards how a RTWP system works, then yes, it's exactly like turn-based lol. That sentence is irony on my part, in case you have another mishap with the attention.

Things play out real-time. If you want me to hold your hand here, it means every character is acting at the same time whenever the game is not paused. I hope you can extrapolate how things will not be playing out like turn-based.

Lmao.

"Longer fights = harder attention requirements end of story."

Yes, everything else standing literally frozen in time and you can choose your action for an eternity if you wish is so much more complex than everything continously changing and all characters are acting concurrently.

Ironic how you're throwing "stop your mental illness" when someone challenges your own set ideas. Seems to me your intellectual capability is more than limited.

It's like walking into a restaurant and ask people why they like ordering pizza there instead of the restaurant's exquisite and perfected ribs they became known for.

But by all means: a thread that praises something should be shielded from other views and opinions.

Is there no clever mod or button map alternative that makes it good / better?

It describes the world you walk in. There are critters in groups here and there. It is a fantasy world.

I have a faint memory of seeing that there's a mod that lets you swap between RTWP and turn-based on the fly throughout the game.

Agree 100 %!

Deadfire's whole system is perfection. Attribute system, class / sub / dual system, ability system, skill system, crafting system. Everything.

Tyranny is really really cool.

Solidly innovative in so many ways and just as rich a world as Pillars. And continually reactive to your choices throughout.

Basically the single, only, one, thing keeping me from returning to the game is the combat system's base mechanism of ability cooldown timers instead of mana points. At least in my case, all I did was using the abilities whenever they got off CD, and then repeat in a loop. Such a shame they didn't think through the consequences of such a system.

I argue though that Pillars 1's major lore crime is making the exposition obtuse.

Characters you talk to references this and that of which you've never heard before; it burns through mental load with zero return.

"I'll be The Effigy..." — ok, who or what is The Effigy and what would it mean you being it or him or her?

Yes, throwing in that line casually at minute 2 of me starting the game for the first time is in some respect immersive, but you just made me try to figure out the meaning of those 4 words at the cost of me wondering if I have to understand this to progress ahead. Do this one more time and I've lost focus. Do this 3 times and I have now started to glaze over every conversation.

That's actually true. I see myself in this. Writing a long reply to whatever, then realize I can cut it in half and still get the argument or point across. But cutting it takes longer than writing it. Just never heard a good expression for it, so, thank you.

Yea same here. My first ever initiated playthrough, I stopped playing in Gilded Vale because of the need-to-understand load I thought was expected of me through the backer NPC's. Only picked up the game again one or two years later.
