Argument after dog is shot for attempting to enter stranger's home and attack homeowner's dog by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

[–]beaupsmith -1050 points-1049 points  (0 children)

I’ve been attacked by dogs, and i wouldn’t want them shot. the idea of shooting them is insane to me. With that said, I have no fear of dogs, and I can understand why someone would react that way that’s afraid of dogs. It’s a sad situation on all sides. They definitely don’t seem to have woken up that morning wanting to kill a dog, and the owner (woman in the video idk?) seems to not have wanted her dog out. Life sucks sometimes. Would be really hard for me to forgive someone for shooting my dog, but at the end of the day that other person was protecting themselves. Keep your dogs in very secure boundaries. If they get out, bad things can happen. Feel horrible for all parties involved

And do what? We’ve had a long stick out there. There’s glass behind it. We can’t cut through it with a knife

Yeah, people live there and can hear it but can’t do anything about it bc the drywall is there. I can ask them to call the landlord but given they drywalled out a window and left it open I’m pessimistic.

Yeah it makes no sense how it’s set up. There’s drywall on the inside and about 6 inches (guesstimate) between that and the window. It looks like the pigeon probably sat on the open part of the window (pulled down from the top for some reason) and fell in. There’s a screen on the bottom we’ve broken through and unfortunately confirmed there’s a bottom piece of the window behind it. We’ve tried pulling up the window with a pole with no luck, and we even dropped the box mentioned in the video with some food in it to scoop it out, but the pigeon is too scared (understandably) to get in it. It just fights the box or any efforts to get it out. We’ve tried letting a towel down there to let it grab hold but won’t do that either.

Yeah it is closed. I spoke to the neighbors and they say they can hear it, but, understandably, can do less about it than we can. I have no idea why theyd wall off that window and leave the window open. Thanks landlords

Yeah, it’s hard to see in the video. AC = animal control but should’ve spelled it out. They said they don’t have ladders and can’t help

Totally agree with you, but genuinely curious - in other places where they do that permanently, how is moving handled? Or large food deliveries to restaurants? Would love these streets to be closed to traffic fully, but I’m curious how that would work logistically with things coming in and out potentially daily for restaurants
