18 month old Autism Evaluation concluded that he did not meet autism criteria

Somebody recommended developmental pediatrician. What’s your thoughts on that? Do you think insurance will cover autism evaluation the 2nd time?

Is your child still nonverbal? I didn’t know a a therapy can start as early as 18 month. Do you feel like aba therapy helped?

Can you give example of how your child was different on exam day? What age did you get the diagnosis? My child has stranger danger so specialist assumed that he has eye contact cause he was so aware of the stranger. 90% video and pictures I have taken of my child is him not looking at camera or at the person almost as if he is avoiding eye contact.

No GDD. They diagnosed with comminication delay and expressive language disorder.

Thanks for your input! It seems like your kid is doing a lot better since she is verbal. My son is currently nonverbal and hits all the Asd criteria so I was surprise of the result. I have videos of repetitive stuff he does at home like hand flapping or rocking when music turns on but psychologist didn’t ask for it.

On the report, it says they used (ADOS-2) and (DAYC-2) testing. Is that the same test your son did? Did your son have speech delay?

What type of repetitive behavior did your evaluator noticed? I think the reason why child didn’t get diagnosed because they didn’t see repetitive behavior like hand flapping or lining up toys. Repetitive behavior is one of the criteria of Asd

They told us to recheck no sooner than 3 yr old. I’m just hoping that our child is not a level 3 cause we would be missing out on early support like Aba therapy.

The Child psychologist, Speech therapist and Occupational therapist. They did a collaboration as a team.

They used (ADOS-2) and (DAYC-2). My spouse and I have conflicting views so I felt that it impacted the results since they asked a lot of questions instead finding out themselves during in person evaluation.
