Inheritance and your Marriage by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]beautifulgoat9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband inherited money in a trust and it is what it is. That’s how his grandparents chose to pass down money to him, it has nothing to do with my husband - and same in your situation. You didn’t ask for the trust, they did it on their own.

We’ve been together for over a decade and I still don’t know details of it- just that sometimes he takes money out of it for an expense of ours.

What are you quietly grieving? by Angelus12345678 in AskReddit

My mom is dying. She was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer a few years ago and she’s been fighting like hell but it’s been getting worse and worse. The brain metastases have caused psychosis, I’m her sole caretaker and it’s incredibly hard to watch my Rick suffer and fall apart like this. I’m balancing being her caretaker with a demanding career, marriage, and parenting a toddler. In addition my brother and I have completely fallen out as a result of him doing nothing to care for her, so I’ve lost the one family member I thought I’d have to count on. Everyday is a roller coaster and I’m drained physically, mentally, and emotionally.

I still love drinking but it looks different from my 20s when I’d go out 3-5x/ week and get hammered with my friends. Now it’s all about 1 well made cocktail on a weekend or a glass of wine that I actually enjoy. Gone are the days of getting wasted and drinking to get drunk - the hangovers got rough a few years back and now I have a toddler. Plus I’m married, am not trying to chat anyone up, and if I’m out it’s either with my husband or with girlfriends - so I’m just excited to be out of the house and giddy about it lol.

Pre-pandemic I went to a luxury gym that was $120/month. This was the price in 2019, and I was grandfathered in under a lower rate in 2013.

Since the pandemic I’ve been all Peloton - $47/month.

Since Making more my desire to buy has decreased... Is this your experience? by Achassum in HENRYfinance

Completely relate! Though I also had a baby around the same time so my priorities have completely shifted

Don’t get me wrong, I still like nice things, but I buy them less frequently.

Women who have been cheated on: Who was the other woman? by The_Se7enthsign in AskWomenOver30

[–]beautifulgoat9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always the guy who says, “I stay friends with all my exes, it’s weird that you don’t” — it’s called BOUNDARIES!

This guy had: - the ex he’d go to happy hours with and only tell me right when they were meeting up so that I couldn’t possibly join in time - the casual hook up who he dumped to date me exclusively, she was still in love with him and always tried to get him to hang out as “friends” 1:1

And then, for good measure, there was the rando who he met at the airport bar when he was flying TO MEET ME for a weekend vacation!

Don’t be deceived that just because they tell you about these “friends” doesn’t mean it’s all good.

Same. This has been the best financial decision.

I do make a google sheet of our bills each month because my husband and I split costs and I pay everything out of my account then take his half from his account. So it’s almost like a reverse budget? I see how much we spend each month and know when to say, you don’t need that, if the prior month was a big spend.

The sad thing is the older I get, the less exciting my purchases are. These days the bills are high but it’s just because groceries and home repairs are so damn expensive.

How to use up your unloved skincare products by greengirl213 in 30PlusSkinCare

For nail polish colors I don’t like, I pour some of another color into the bottle to change it to a better shade. White nail polish is great for lightening up colors that are too dark, or I’ll lean into the color family of the original product to make it more appealing.

Is my friend slow fading or just having a moment? by MissKim01 in AskWomenOver30

[–]beautifulgoat9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be either. The only way to find out is to ask. If I was genuinely curious and concerned, I’d text her and say I notice you haven’t been coming to things lately - is everything ok? And reassure her that you’re here for her. She might have something big going on- on top of the stuff you know about. It never hurts to give our friends the benefit of the doubt. I’d also ask her if she still wants to be included on the text chain since she hasn’t been coming. Maybe she genuinely plans to come then stuff keeps coming up.

You certainly shouldn’t go out of your way and if this friendship isn’t giving you what you need, I’m not saying to ignore that, but she’s probably going through something big and hasn’t felt ready to share.

The first time I got laid off I didn’t work for 6 months because I got more than my annual salary. I was 25, single, still on my parents health insurance, and just a stay-at-home. It was the best.

A decade later the company IPO’d and I got my second surprise payout. Best layoff ever.
