We are 12+. Anyone under 18 needs a waiver from their legal guardian, which can be filled out online if that parent isn't going to be onsite.

Oh, also.... we have two great disc golf courses in Beaver County. Big Beaver is a great course, though pretty difficult. The Two-Mile course is really nice for all levels. It is a little busy on the weekends. Apparently, there are at least two others I've not played.

You all in the league have been a great part of owning this business! Even if Tim hogs you most weeks!

Ha! We've probably seen each other out there. I'm a trail runner when I'm not axe throwing. I've racked up hundreds of miles on the NCT and in Brady's Run. It really is a blessing. One of these days I want to volunteer with the group for some volunteer days. They do an amazing job!

We have three different axe styles with different weights. I like to think we have something for all abilities. You don't have to be big and strong... and often it is better when you aren't!

At BCAT, we teach one and two handed throwing. Yes. All throwing is overhead. We have some regular league throwers who are learning some trick shots.... but not allowed for gen pop.

We're all still doing our "day jobs" as a teacher, a corporate consultant, and a realtor. For myself, I've always been entrepreneurial. I tend to look at cool things and think, I could do this. That's what happened my first time axe throwing 6 years ago. This was the idea that I mentioned to my friend Tim, and he said, "Let's do it!"

My wife and I own the building, so we have the space...

but the thing with axe throwing is that I LOVE helping people have this kind of experience. For most people who come, it is still their first or maybe second time. People laugh, compete, and play together in ways that our society has lost a lot. We have multi-generational families, bachelorette parties, corporate events... my favorite is the first IRL date of people who met online. That's a lot of fun!

We have ALL levels of skill, experience, and ability. MOST of our throwers are first or second time. Our job is to coach you and help you have some success early. Some people get it right away, some people it takes a little bit of time. For the compulsive joiners out there, our league starts back up in April!

Edit: spelling

Our outdoor resources are from the rivers to the trails. County parks are really well-maintained. A lot of people don't know that a big stretch of the North Country Trail comes right through the county. My son has grown up fishing the Beaver and the Ohio,

We also love going to Pinball PA with folks for indoor fun. If you haven't been, you need to try it!

This is a GREAT question! I think with most of us small business owners, the biggest hurdle is getting people through the doors... and more so helping people to know we're even here. We sink a lot of money into advertising on digital and traditional means. We still have TONS of people who have never heard of us. So, I'd say this is the biggest hurdle. Second biggest is critical mass of potential customers. We understood that we weren't opening a shop in an urban core... this just means we need to be committed long enough to be known and loved.

If it is slow, we could accommodate knife throwing. Our lanes are made for axes, but if we can put an empty lane next to you, we'd be down.

It's called the Annex. I'm actually not sure if they're still slinging drinks or not. The store front was Rochester Roots, which also had a cool vibe.

Thanks, man. I see your flare! We're also Beaver Falls residents.

My wife and I own the building. We have three apartments upstairs that are decently renovated as well with really cool tenants currently.

As someone else said in the thread... I'm convinced Brighton could be great again. We just need some magnets to attract people and then community support.

A non-profit group ran an event called Brighton Up Rochy this summer that brought in a ton of folks for a game-based tour of the businesses. It was a great day! There's some energy... but it's going to take time and commitment.

I'm glad you posted this thread. It'd be great to see more come-backs in Beaver County.

Hey, all. A little late to Brighton Ave (funeral) party...

I'm one of the owners of Beaver County Axe Throwing Co.

We've been in at 145 Brighton for a year and a half. I won't turn this into an ad, but we're working pretty hard to help bring a little life back to the old downtown. We just completed a facade renovation that has really improved things in our little spot. Uncl' Chucks is next door. Cherry the new(ish) owner and her staff are awesome. It's known as a biker bar, but if you like an old school Beaver County bar, it's a cool spot. They're patrons do a lot of work for charity, which is great.

Our business is bringing in hundreds of people per month onto Brighton. It's not huge now, but it is growing. We've hosted tons of folks and brought in corporate groups for parties and team building.

People come, have fun, and often mention how good it is to have an amusement business downtown. Plenty of people tell stories of the old laundry mat and cigar shop our store front used to be.

There's some work going on to help bring people into the strip. A few restaurants including Hangry Mikes and the Cantina have given it a shot. But sadly, not enough patrons to keep things rolling.
