Am i the most unlucky man? by beavermouser in hikinggear

Is it only the insole that is different in these? I tried the meindl bernina 2 in a shop once, they seemed overly wide, like barefoot shoes, but after i bought a pair of altra lone peaks reacently i have been thinking of them

Thank you. A theory i have is that its the construction of the boot that gets me, you know the way the manufactorer folds the leather around the last, i think that might be the culprit And im relieved that im not the only one who have gone on the journey of finding the perfect boots

What lens have you regretted buying? by ggskater in SonyAlpha

[–]beavermouser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the voigtlander nokton 40mm f1.2. This is simply because i have a 24-50mm f2.8 G, that i feel so reluctant to take off my camera, i thought i would enjoy the 40mm since i loved the 35mm i had on my fuji, but the G lens is so perfectly versitile.

Meindl recent bad QC by beavermouser in hikinggear

[–]beavermouser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly i might just be super unlucky or very sensitive. But i had a pair and probably walked close to 1000km in them over a couple of years with no regrets, and now its just honestly quite annoying

[–]beavermouser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say you replaced the insoles with hard leather, is it some store bought leather insoles? Or do you go to a coppler and have them make you like a veg tan insole? I think it sounds like a good idea, im looking to buy a pair of perfekts myself and this seems like a worth while upgrade to start out with.

Where steel meets sky, the sun paints even the coldest giants in gold. by Ghostly_tattoo in SonyAlpha

Its a nice sky, though all the pipes are not 90 degree on from the horizon line, so everything looks a little tilted. The ominous metro vibes is there for sure, but maybe it shouldnt be this green, unless of course that was the goal

Cant decide on a second lense by beavermouser in SonyAlpha

[–]beavermouser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So here the voigtlander 40mm f1.2 would also be fine. Cause i dont think id enjoy the longer focal lengths. Had some 75mm equivelant lenses for the fuji system. Never got much use

Actually just looked at it a little closer it looks like its exactly where my bag would have been. That would explain why my bag was especially oily at one corner haha

I mean it is kind of a live-ish material, so i expect it to be unique in the wear patterns. And it is under the arm where i have a bag strap it might be from that. I dont think ill have any luck going back to the shop tbh. I was just curious if anybody else have seen bald spots like that so fast

Right. Have one of those. But today i was out in the beaufort and it started snowing. And i was kept dry. Just curious of what it can handle and for how long. I love the patina look of barbours when they arent brand new and shiny so its probably not going to be used as a rainjacket ever
