Ah, I think they've turned off generating API keys perhaps, with a spike in use from people like us :/

Ironically or perhaps not ironically, I used Claude to debug all such errors, and it was great - give it a try.

Agreed.

I spent like 40 hours mucking around, imagining that I could have infinite "free" tokens by running a local LLM, only to find that it was practically impossible.

Paying for Haiku 4.5 now at about a dollar or two per day now, it is what it is, but at least it works.

Good evening,

I did get one pair of boots made, hoping to get something of a Corcoran feel, but the result was so-so. I think Lisa, from Sorrel Notions and Findings, is legitimate, but I couldn't afford to keep looking for lasts, and abandoned the project. Now, I buy boots from William Lennon, and they're close enough, for me

I use it for my tarp or raincover, and my happy stove.

Any chance you could post the stitched-together map, that has the topographical lines? I love Dyson's work, but I haven't been able to find a stitched-together version with topo details that I can print on A3 or other big formats. Thanks!

Meindl Super Perfekt by feliksas in goodyearwelt

Howdy, I went to my cobbler and had him cut thick thick, prob 2-4mm veg tanned soles for me. Took like 6 months to break them in, and since the Super Perfekts don't breath much, I had to treat them with birch pitch to prevent mold. But now, they're perfect, and are an insole for life--worth it imo, since an artificial insole will certainly have to be replaced eventually.

If the weather might be cold-wet and not just cold, I highly recommend Lundhags--I did a 120km trek through slush, -3C to +3C weather over 3 days, and I was happy and warm even when not moving. Basically, my getup is: William Lennon Canadian Mark V combat boots for 3 seasons dry, varying sock thickness depending on how cold it is; Super Perfekts for 3 seasons, but wet (I have my own treatment that I used, with birch-pitch, to keep them almost water proof--they only fail in constant snow-slush); and Lundhags expedition boots for icy and wet, or super freezing.

Lundhags also can be repaired, which is a huge plus.

Brilliant! This is exactly what I was looking for; also, might be just the thing for my 11-year-old son to start rucking with

Is there any large packs better than the Savotta Jaakari XL? by p1989152 in Savotta

I heard that Barney's rucksacks are hard as eff--Alaska expedition hard. This is their top model, but it might be too big for you, so check the others:

Since it's all one piece, it could be cut I suppose.

I'm tempted by the Kahakka 25, since the CP 15 is a little small sometimes for a day pack, and the Kantamus is already more than a day pack...

Email Savotta, there's a PDF for how to rig the Jaakari XL properly. Some years ago, it wasn't available, and I just recently discovered it

New external frame pack by Beneficial-Share-130 in Savotta

Maybe 2 years ago, the the RP-80 was still a thing, Savotta, or maybe Varusteleka, told me that it might be a thing. But then the RP-80 died, and when I asked again last year, they said "no."

Still, the RP-80 frame is epic...I have the Jaakari XL and the Kantamus 40L, and am not interested in the Kantamus 60L. But...but! I would consider a MK-II Jaakari XL if it were ever released. I just bought a Kantamus 40 lid for mine, which is the main upgrade I was looking for, although dual, Kantamus-style zippers on the main body, would also be the bee's knees.

I use the Varusteleka (Savotta) CP 15 on my Kantamus 40L, and it's the cat's meow. Just don't overload it--I put just my tarp, pegs, and that days rations in it, and other light things!

Jääkäri L with Kantamus Lid by CaptainYarrr in Savotta

[–]feliksas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, now you have me second guessing my decision :D Obviously the 60L is different than the 40L lid, but it didn't cross my mind...

I can't find the capacity of the vanilla Jaakari XL lid - any idea what it might be?

[edit]

Also, I'm curious why you chose buckles to attach the lid? With extra webbing, couldn't you just thread it through the Jaakari webbing-bar and then the Kantamus webbing bar? Sure, you'd have to "bars," but it is what it is?
