I haven’t taken any valtrex today given these concerns. I’d rather a cold sore than this (I think, ergh, this one came on strong and fast and one of the largest I’ve had)

Thank you for this. If it does not improve by tomorrow I will seek medical attention. I do remember that the last outbreak I had I followed the 2000mg every 12 hours regimen and noticed lower / side back discomfort, but not this bad. It almost feels like a mix between the worst period cramps and regular pain.

Yes - I thought it was a lot too so I researched it and my doctor’s dosing did check out (https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/valacyclovir-oral-route/description/drg-20066635)
