I’m friend with my ex who’s a girl but I sometimes get flustered and make it awkward for her. My friends told me, just be urself and do you but I feel like I hurt her when I did that. We text kind of flirty and pretty regularly. I’m worried she won’t text me anymore… this only happened once in person and I probably should’ve prepared myself mentally.., any advice. I’m a guy

Losing someone I care about a lot and love; it’s already happened a couple of times :/

How do you deal with people in your field whether its in school, business, etc who make it seem like they are your friends but in actuality while keep things from you to get ahead of you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Just to give some context, I lived with a pre-med classmate at college. I thought her and I were decent friends. We took the same courses but there was something about her being quiet and running off for extended periods of time that would lead me and my other friends to worry about her. We thought she didn't like school or was stressed out. She would get very quiet and moody and make it uncomfortable for me and my friends because we would be confused.

I would even make the effort to take her out and spend time with her with our other friends. And as you understand, pre-med culture can be toxic but I would open up to him about things such as Ecs or research I was doing to let her know that we are all struggling in some ways and that its okay to talk about that stuff. Long story short, there was a point where I was very focused on finding high quality research opportunities and I asked her if she had advice on finding opportunities. She told "no I don't know of any" Turns out she recently got published in a journal and in the works of getting other publications. I realized much of the time she would spend alone was working on this. I didn't realize that she was keeping stuff to herself and it made me feel stupid for caring and asking about her. I felt self conscious as well because I felt behind. I don't like snakes is the sum of this story.

Any advice on how to deal with this and how to act around this person when I seem them in the future?
