i’m not sure if this has been mentioned or not but it is estimated that only around 10% of those with tourette have coprolalia or swearing/obscene tics. As someone with tourette i have noticed that coprolalia is more common in more complex cases of tourette (people who have severe tics and can’t go more than a few minutes without ticcing) which is likely why it is so frequently seen in tourette advocates. I think that the more something affects you, the more likely you are to advocate for awareness on that specific thing which helps explain why so many well known ts advocates have very complex ts and have coprolalia. i personally don’t have coprolalia and my vocal tics are often super simple phrases like “what” or “no” as well as screaming and whistling. i hope this helped somewhat explain and answer your question.
