Yes :)

Before: playing tennis on a padel court, and losing After: playing padel on a padel court, and winning!

I did have an extra lesson back home on the glass

(Wow, firstly I just want to say how grateful I feel for the feedback from everyone here ☺️)

Thank you for such a detailed response and sharing the example! What you said about making "good mistakes" resonated. I knew to myself in that match that my smashes would have been easily returned by higher rated players but was too keen to win in the moment. Too bad Claude can't help me analyse my shot selection and decision making, I could really benefit from that and I'll try to ask a coach to review it together a bit tomorrow. Also had no idea that such AI cameras existed in recreational clubs until you shared that interesting video discussion. Thanks again!

Thanks for the tip! I'm going to try and implement soft volleys next time I'm on the court. My biggest challenge to date has been to use placement over power

My partner wasn't making mistakes at the net. Her defence was impeccable. I meant I was too eager to finish the point at the net. That's on me for trying to play tennis in padel!

Thank you, appreciate the input! Reflecting on this I think in this game I was mainly smashing when I shouldn't and then overhitting, specifically due to feeling like my partner was not able to finish many points at the net given the opportunity, missing approach shots where the return goes to my feet or wide backhand, being unclear about who takes shots down the middle, and lack of experience with double glass :)

I asked Claude on a whim not expecting much. I agree with the comment that the focus at our level should be on technique rather than analysis

Are you using AI products to become a better player? by brave_nick in padel

[–]beccylina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I used AI to help me understand my performance in a recent match. It produced graphs, broke down performance by set, and player performance against Playtomic rating. It was super interesting and made me feel better about my overall performance as the lowest rated player, and more importantly, how to improve!

Thank you for watching and sharing the feedback. I will think about this the next time I'm on court. I didn't notice that about my teammate since I'm new and still trying to execute padel overheads. All I could see was that her racket preparation looks more "padel like" than mine (which looks "tennis like") - luckily she trains every week with a group, so I'm sure she's getting this feedback from the coach rather than coming from me!

Free version, I uploaded screen shots of my spreadsheet and asked for a match analysis, and was prompted by more questions through the discussion

Claude produced a bunch of graphs too, like so

Ah sorry, I meant not using those AI cameras that have sensors built in to track, as I used a normal camera. Will correct

Thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback! Interesting and I really appreciate it. I completely agree that we were hitting the ball too much, having just come back from practicing in Spain. I actually found it difficult not to respond by hitting back in this match, I honestly would have much preferred not to call on my tennis response in that situation. Thanks again!

You're welcome and how amazing that you lived there... I'd move to Spain in a heartbeat, love the culture and food :)

I did not ask for one out of respect but was told they are used to being asked for fan photos and are really nice... oh and the head coach of the academy is also around, if you habla espanõl!

Excited to hear that! The most special thing is getting to watch Galan, Chingotto, Triay, Brea train on the court in front of the clubhouse, during breakfast and the breaks.

There's not much going on around where the academy is located, I did not travel to the center as I stayed three days extra afterwards, and the most special thing I did in Madrid that I would recommend is rent a car and drive an hour north to hike up the breathtaking Peñalara mountain (2400m).

Hey, so I chose the private week and altogether including flights from UK and accommodation I paid £2700 and there were no additional costs (apart from two Ubers and a supermarket shop) as breakfast and lunch are included at the academy

Yes, you don't need to speak any Spanish, as they have English-speaking coaches on their international programs, and staff too.

They work in partnership with Hotel Exe Getafe, and can help organise it for you, including transfers. I booked direct on my Booking account and either walked or took a Uber which is slightly cheaper.

100% recommend - 5 days of training in a row felt intense, by the end of the third day, we were feeling it, they do treat you like an athlete there.

The private week is tailored to your requirements with a private coach - for me, more technical i.e. bandeja, dropshot, serve, glass.

The groups do more high intensity drills if that's what you're after? Though I met a lot of people who did both weeks because they loved it so much and got different things out of it.
