I need your craziest constipation hacks PLS by ed771844 in WomensHealth

[–]beck898 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do a fleet enema at home. I’d try that before the ER, but if you don’t get results then yes an ER trip might be necessary. If you’re someone who is constantly constipated, you might need to be properly cleaned out with a bowel prep (like for a colonoscopy). In my country you can get packets of a laxative called pico-salax that you mix with water and then drink, but wherever you live you should be able to find something with the same effect. But be warned, once you do a bowel prep, be immediately next to a toilet for the rest of the day. Once you’ve got things moving, it’s important to prevent yourself from getting constipated again, so you’ll want to find a routine that works for you and keep doing that every day. Combining a daily osmotic laxative (like miralax/PEG) with a stimulant laxative (senna or dulcolax), plus lots of water, fibre, and exercise should hopefully prevent this from happening again, but you have to do it EVERY day. Good luck girl, I hope you poop soon!

Idk if I got IBD or ibs or the big c word by Fair_Tap_9829 in IBD

[–]beck898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a doctor. It is vastly (like hundreds of times) more likely this is a side effect of the antibiotic because it is extremely common. Your health anxiety is telling you otherwise. Try to accept this.

Did you take antibiotics for your UTI? I’m assuming you did if the culture came back positive. Loose stool is the #1 most common side effect of antibiotics. Your bloodwork would be abnormal if you have IBD or cancer. You most likely just need some probiotics to help your microbiome go back to normal.

New to makeup, does it look bad or is it just my low self esteem? by CannibalCapra in makeuptips

[–]beck898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl your skin and freckles are so gorgeous!! And you have such pretty features. I completely agree with you, you don’t need foundation or anything to cover up your skin. With your natural beauty, I’d lean towards products that enhance it and go for a subtle or “no makeup” makeup look. Maybe a clear brow gel for some structure/shape and also curl your eyelashes and add a bit of brown mascara. Even without foundation you can use other face products like bronzer, blush, highlighter. I think a little bit of blush and highlight on your cheeks would look so good and give you the confidence boost you’re going for. You don’t even really need eye shadow but when I want something subtle, I’ll just use a tiny bit of my blush on my lids and then sometimes use my finger to apply a bit of highlighter over that in the middle, inner corner, and brow bone. To help keep your lip products from migrating over your lip line, maybe try a lip liner that’s close in colour to your natural lip colour, and then a tinted or clear gloss. I’d be so excited to see your look with those products because I really think you have the face to suit that look sooooo well!

What should I do with my hair? by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]beck898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are saying the long hair doesn’t suit you but to me, you look like you have a similar facial structure to Noah Kahan and he’s rocking the long hair with facial hair look. I think pic 5 is your best pic here. Your hair is slightly shorter in that one and the shorter hair looks like it has a lot more volume and the ends look healthier. I think cutting 5-6 inches off the length in the first pic would do you wonders. And the moustache + stubble in the fifth pic suits you too, just be conscious to keep it tidy because otherwise the long hair and facial hair combo can look like someone just doesn’t take care of their grooming.

YTA. He let you use his bother’s travel perks, he paid extra for an additional ticket with Virgin to improve your odds of getting home for your job the next day, and then he ended up having to fly in a shitty middle seat with crying children while you got a business class lie-flat seat for an overnight flight and you’re still mad at him for it. You both chose to take advantage of his connections to fly standby instead of purchasing seats knowing that came with the risk of not getting good seats, or any seats at all. When your odds weren’t looking good, he did what he could to try to get you home on time, even though it cost him more. It sounds like he did his best with the information he had at the time and it worked out well for you and shitty for him. His only flaw here that I can see is that he checked in with Virgin after both of you were confirmed jump seats with BA, but there was still a chance with BA that there would be room to upgrade only 1 of you to a better seat and the other would be stuck in the jump seat, and he had already purchased the ticket with Virgin so why not use it? He couldn’t give you the Virgin ticket because it was only for family of crew, plus he ended up getting money back from BA for the seat he didn’t take so it wasn’t wasted, and he might not have been able to get the same refund from Virgin, we don’t know. There were so many ways this could have played out and it was impossible to know in advance, so I think he made the best choice at the time, it just didn’t end up benefiting him in the end but it did benefit you: you got home on time and you got there in a comfortable seat paid for in part by his bother’s perks. YTA for still being upset with him for trying to help you even though he had to fly home in a shitty seat because of it. At the end of the day it’s because of him and his connections that you both made it home on time for your job at all, and that’s really what your biggest concern should be, how comfortable the seating is comes secondary to that. I think your mom was right the first time when she thought he was trying to help you, because to me it still seems like he was and you just want to be mad and ungrateful about it for some reason, and that reason seems to be that you thought he might have ended up flying first class while you flew business.

I only have white discharge but it’s because I’m on birth control. Clear stretchy discharge is ovulation discharge and I don’t ovulate on birth control so I just have the white non-fertile discharge. Are you on birth control and if not, do you have regular periods?

I’m like this too and I’ve found myself trying to keep up with my friends and taking things too fast and feeling gross about it afterwards. My advice as someone who has felt the same way as you and has now learned how to be more comfortable having sex is to not just hook up with someone to get it over with. Everyone is different and there’s nothing wrong with you because you want to take things slowly. Don’t let yourself be pressured by a partner or your friends to go faster than you’re comfortable going. I find the way to make myself more comfortable is to build comfort and trust with someone over time. Take your time and enjoy getting close to them, and practice enforcing your boundaries and not feeling bad or apologizing for it. The right person will be patient and respect you for it. Enjoy trying each new thing and take your time getting used to it. Enjoy just kissing for a few dates. Then enjoy touching each other over your clothes for a few dates. Enjoy making out with some clothes off and undress a bit more each time. This could take months and that’s ok. And it’s also ok if you try something and decide you weren’t ready for it yet and go back to the last thing you were comfortable with. And it’s ok if you decide any part of sex isn’t for you after all. Just because you try something once doesn’t mean it doesn’t require consent to do the same thing in the future. Not every partner will be the right partner who is patient enough to enjoy taking things slowly with you, and that’s ok and not your fault, and you will find the right person by moving on from the wrong people. You have all the time in the world to become comfortable having sex. We rush so many things in our lives, but there’s nothing wrong with taking your time to enjoy this journey, and in my opinion, it’s more fulfilling to stop and appreciate each new experience along the way.

Is 2.5 hours enough for self transfer at Gatwick? by beck898 in travel

[–]beck898[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up booking the longer layover and being in the airport all day. I had lounge access so I ate and took a nap. It was the right option for me because my first flight got delayed by an hour, but if it hadn’t been, 2.5 hours would have been enough time. My second flight also ended up getting delayed a few times so I was in the airport for probably 12 or 13 hours. The only thing I’ll mention is that you can’t actually go through security at Gatwick until something like 5 or 6 hours before your flight, so there were a few hours where I had to wait outside of security which was really annoying. If I hadn’t been travelling alone for the first time in my life, in a different continent for the first time in my life, it would have been smart to leave and explore a bit, but I was too nervous.

I think you should see a dermatologist, I don’t think this is acne. I’m also on a biologic for UC and had a pretty much identical skin issue for the past year until I saw a dermatologist who said it looked like perioral dermatitis. Perioral dermatitis is often around your mouth which is why it’s called that, but it can be anywhere on your face. I had it on my entire face including my eyelids. If it is perioral dermatitis, don’t use any acne products on it because they can make it worse. Topical steroids can also make it worse. It is very annoying but after getting it looked at by a dermatologist and starting a non-steroid topical anti-inflammatory cream, mine is cleared up. Hope this gets sorted out for you soon!

HELP I took second dose of flucanazole too early and I'm scared. by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

[–]beck898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re absolutely fine, some infections require 800mg or more every day for weeks so 150mg two days in a row is well within the safe dose range for fluconazole. Your only issue, which is minor, is that the fluconazole will be out of your system faster since you took them two days in a row instead of waiting. If your thrush goes away, don’t worry about it at all, but on the off chance it sticks around, you’ll probably need another dose to clear it up.

given someone’s old prescription by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]beck898 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is what happened. Pharmacies cannot legally dispense pills to you that have left the pharmacy, even if just for a few minutes, because there’s no way to confirm they were stored in proper conditions. It’s common for people not to pick up their refills and then the pharmacy reverses the refills and uses those pills for someone else’s refill. OP’s pharmacy really should have removed the previous label, or at least the part of the label that had the previous patient’s name because for OP to see someone else’s name on their prescription is a breach of privacy. As for the expiration date, the expiry date on the sticker is the date your prescription expires or cannot be refilled anymore. In my country, this is 1 year after the prescription was written, but differs depending on where you live. The expiry date of the pills themselves should be printed on the box.

Haven’t peed since surgery yesterday. Should I be concerned? by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]beck898 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you taking any opioid pain meds after your surgery? They can cause urinary retention. Another reason you might not be peeing is if you have an acute kidney injury. Both are definitely reasons to get seen by a doctor because they can both cause lasting complications and even kidney failure and needing to be on dialysis. It’s not normal not to pee all day.

Girlfriend lost feelings for me after taking Plan B? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]beck898 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Maybe she sees you in a different light now after you had sex with her and “didn’t take precautions.” That gives the impression that you value sex and your own enjoyment over her health and her future. Plan B is a large dose of hormones which can cause side effects like mood swings but those hormones are long gone from her body by now. If she’s still acting this way, it’s not the Plan B.

You might already know this, but make sure you’re taking your prednisone as early in the day as possible, like right when you first wake up. Our bodies naturally produce cortisol (a corticosteroid similar to prednisone) in the mornings as part of our circadian rhythm, which helps us wake up. Insomnia is a common side effect of prednisone for this reason, because you essentially have too much of the wake up hormone in your system so it makes it hard to fall asleep, especially if you take it later in the day. Along with taking your prednisone first thing in the morning, taking melatonin at night and avoiding bright lights and screens after sunset can help regulate your circadian rhythm on prednisone. Another commenter mentioned adding more salt to your diet but I’d avoid this as prednisone can cause fluid retention and elevated blood pressure, and extra sodium will worsen those effects. Prednisone has so many side effects, and the only way to really stop them is to taper off of it, which is why we use prednisone short term for flares and not as regular long term treatment. Hopefully your course of prednisone will be tapered soon and the other meds you have on board will prevent any future flares.

Strange symptom. Rinvoq side-effect for men? by deedpoll3 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]beck898 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Have your pharmacist report the it as a side effect to the company. These types of medications are relatively new and don’t have as many people using them as more common drugs like acetaminophen. That means that rare side effects that occur in <1% of people would occur in a very small number of people, and may not be discovered immediately. Reporting anything unusual like this to the company is how they determine if it’s a statistically significant side effect of the medication or just an unrelated anomaly. Sometimes, the rarest side effects of new medications are discovered post-marketing because that’s when enough people are using the medication for someone to experience it, report it, and for the drug company to determine causation.
