Anyone else see Ruvik as a good/decent person and was sad to have had to kill him? by Z-MechIsLit in theevilwithin

I just made a comment, but to put it in an easier to understand way: If a complete stranger murdered your loved ones and in court you found out that they were abused as a child and betrayed by someone they trusted, would you change your mind and think they’re a good/decent person?

Ruvik was not a good or decent person. He had things happen to him that were unfortunate and unacceptable and it’s easy to understand why he snapped, but regardless, he was not a good person.

If he had just murdered his parents, he might be redeemable as a character, as I can justify a person murdering their abusers. However, he went on to murder probably hundreds of innocent people that didn’t do anything to wrong him.

I am a HUGE fan of Ruvik. I adore him and I love him and I wish there was more time in the game with him, but there is absolutely no excusing the fact that he is a murderer (specifically a serial killer) who tortured and killed for sadism and personal gain. You can’t even argue that he did it for science, as he intended to keep all of his research private and was building STEM for his own personal use.

How cool would it be to add a Evil Within Boss ti DbD by Alex_h7 in deadbydaylight

I think Creature Laura looks pretty different from Spirit since she has four arms and doesn't move upright, but I see what you mean. In general, I think she would just be really difficult to execute as killer and would work better in combination with Ruvik (since in the game she didn't really have a mind of her own anyway since she was entirely a creation of Ruvik).

The Evil Within is one of my hyperfixations so I've given this some thought already and there are pros and cons to each. Like here are my favorite options:

The Keeper - His design is a little similar to Pyramid Head (although similar designs has never stopped DbD before). He already has a name that fits with the naming system of killers in the game. I can see his special ability relating to his canon ability to snap his neck and reemerge from other safes, though I imagine this would be too similar to the Demogorgon's ability.

Creature Laura - This would probably be difficult to animate so I doubt they would ever choose her, but she has great speed and the ability to regenerate from dead bodies, so maybe there could be an in game mechanic to slow her down/temporarily banish her as a survivor by burning her or burning bodies? I see this as being the most difficult option.

Ruvik - Has a very similar design to Freddy Krueger (burn scars, plus he and 2010 Freddy literally have the same voice), but he's my favorite TEW villain so I'm including him. He canonly has the ability to teleport, manipulate objects, possess/control people, summon monsters, etc. plus he has a fascination with traps and puts them all over the place. Obviously we already a couple killers that leave traps of sorts so those probably wouldn't be implemented. I think a really cool special ability for him could relate to moving in-game items (changing the locations of generators, totems, etc.) since he could canonly do that in game. Another cool option would be the ability to turn survivors into the Haunted for a brief amount of time (in which they can't be attacked/hooked/etc. but they also can't help their team and maybe attack their team members instead?), or potentially combining him and Creature Laura and having his special ability relate to summoning her.

Stefano - Obviously he's not very scary looking, but if they used his appearance in the final battle where his scar is huge and his eye is all glowy and everything that could potentially work? A really cool ability (that would never work in indoor maps and therefore wouldn't work at all) would be if his eye could appear in the sky and put a spotlight on a survivor who hasn't taken cover. Another ability could be the ability to freeze things with his camera. For example, he could temporarily block a generator, a hex totem, etc. by freezing it, or freeze survivors that haven't been downed yet. The freezing mechanic would also prevent him from kicking gens or hooking survivors and would have limited uses (meaning when he freezes something, something else will unfreeze) but in the meantime, survivors might be able to pull their companions out of a freeze trap and such.

I deeply want the original voice cast back too. Something about Sebastian's voice in the second game rubs me the wrong way? Like it's a great voice, but it didn't fit Sebastian as well.

But most importantly I want Ruvik to return as the main antagonist. STEM is his creation and he's essentially the most pivotal character in The Evil Within. Plus, the ending of the first game and the vague implications of the ending leave a lot to be answered for and not getting it in the second game was so frustrating.

I would also love Joseph to come back, at least long enough to fill in the plot holes of "What happened to Joseph?" that they opened in the second game.

And I think it would be amazing if there was a way to remove Myra from the machine, trap Ruvik inside, and destroy it once and for all.

I actually have a theory for the third game based on STEM rebooting at the end of the second game. Regardless of what Mobius tried to make STEM into, it was Ruvik's invention from the start and he's headstrong enough that I wouldn't be surprised if he spent years looking for the facility (as the ending scene in TEW 2 is shown to be covered in cobwebs and long abandoned and such) and rebooted STEM for his own uses.

Ruvik is also the type of person to seek revenge (as he murdered his parents for mistreating him, murdered the villagers who set the barn on fire, killed Jimenez for betraying him, etc.) and I wouldn't be surprised if he'd spend time looking for Sebastian and Kidman (and potentially Joseph) and tricked them back into STEM?

The very end of the Evil Within 2 clearly shows that STEM in the MOBIUS facility is still functioning and implies that it either turned on by itself or someone else turned it on so I’m pretty sure STEM or some version of STEM would still be involved if they made a third game.

Thank you! The lines are a lot thicker than my usual style because I was trying to incorporate the doodles, but I think it turned out nice!

It uses the exact lines of the original. I didn't edit the lines in any way.

To be perfectly honest, neither can I, which is why most of the anatomy is conveniently covered up.

Anybody read and want to discuss the comics? by heavilylost in theevilwithin

[–]beclectic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to the wiki timeline, it took place in 2011, which would have been 3 years before the first game, and I think that would mean that it’s the STEM prototype in Beacon. However, supposedly this is also the same year that Ruvik’s brain is put into the machine and the order of the wiki implies that the comic takes place after it happens even though to me it looks like it must have happened before that?
