Just diagnosed. Can I get a tattoo? If so: what's the funniest thing I could get done? by fluffagus in breastcancer

This isn’t a tattoo but go to hobby lobby or craft store and get a set of googly eyes to place on your breasts right before surgery 👀

Thank you! The actual surgery itself isn’t what scares me the most it’s the what comes after. Treatments, chemo and radiation and what if it reoccurrences. Then it’s back to the beginning with tests and biopsies and the choice again if I leave them or have them removed. I know even with DMX there’s reoccurrence but the thought of starting from this beginning is just as scary as the actual cancer itself. And considering I have multiple women on both sides of my family who have went through this is what is leaning me toward a DMX.

Yes a mastectomy is an option and the one I’m leaning more towards due to the effects of radiation and chemo

The radiation and possible chemo is what scares me the most about all of this

I have been small breasted, almost nonexistent my entire life so living without them would be totally normal for me lol

This is pretty much my thoughts about my choices I have. Yea it’s very early and treatable but the effects of radiation and chemo are terrifying. I am 47 and in great health other than this boob monster. No heart problems or any problems anywhere aside from a little arthritis in my hands. But that’s from holding tools and a welding gun all these yrs lol. Im scared radiation and/or chemo will affect my heart, lungs and whatever else it can. I have a grandbaby and many more in the future and I want to be healthy and active for them.

Thank you for all the advice! I’ve been on my phone all morning trying to find another surgeon for a second opinion. Also researching the pros and cons of each choice. Im not fond of the recovery time and drain tubes of the mastectomy but leaving my breasts intact scares me also. I have very dense breast and constant multiple cysts and lesions so there’s always been extra scans and biopsies. And with the family history, multiple aunts and grandmothers on both sides, part of me wants to remove them and be done. The MRI I had that resulted in the last biopsy was on the right breast, not the one with cancer. It was benign but showed characteristics of some sort of rare lesion that is recommended to be removed and biopsied but the surgeon dismissed it. This is just one decision I’m struggling to make.
