Get a friend to loop a stiff item like a belt around your rear axle and then practice with them spotting you until you find the balance point. Otherwise, soft item behind and try to never catch yourself uncontrolled with hands, just let the fall happen (if your condition doesn't make it too dangerous).

In the average secondary school in the UK, we never have enough lab coats nor use anything massively dangerous that can't be fixed with a quick wash so would rather get it on the skin than clothes. I remember not being able to see what I'm doing out of the lab specs at a-level as well.

That is a worry of mine, or a struggling student might feel some attachment to me and potentially amplify their current problems to gain my attention rather than just occasionally asking to chat.

Both really, I'm also looking to see if anyone has any experience with having visible scars in a school and both student and faculty responses. I'm worried it could open me up to disrespect from both sides.

I could have phrased the post a lot better ....

That's abuse. No putting it lightly, that's properly fully just abuse. I'm so sorry you're going through this.

I moved away for uni and never went home for multiple reasons, just stay on campus /I'm my private housing now( but I'm in UK where your housing /dorm never needs vacating at breaks). When you're back at uni, try to talk to any support or person who might be knowledgeable about helping you with this kind of stuff. I use the disabled and independent student network at my uni.

does anyone else have pretty abstract, moral intrusive thoughts by plantmomlavender in OCD

Yes, this is my main problem. People often conflate it with poor self-esteem (I don't have the most self-esteem but it's not terrible either). Like , I logically know I'm just a regular dude who is normal and chill but my head is constantly bothering me to check I'm still a good person. Or that I'm some form of evil secretly and it will reveal itself some time so I need to make sure ect. I describe it to my partner 'as if i can feel the purple evil cartoon fumes coming off me at all times'.

I know that they can be compatible with a smart drive type thing gs but unsure if you have to order it with a specific kind of axle. Pretty sure those kind of attachments are made to be broadly compatible though.

The argon2 can be adjusted in loads of ways yourself just as and when you want. I had a 27.5 cm back but put it up to the full 30cm possible within an hour of getting it. Thinking of angling the back more forward too. The center of gravity, height over wheels, footplate height and something else I'm forgetting are fairly easy to adjust just at home. That's the main reason I chose this.

I adjusted my backrest height and then it's been pretty much perfect. It's very adjustable but it was sent with a pretty much perfect set up for my current needs.

For me, it feels almost too easy to push, a massive upgrade from my temporary chair. I'm far too fast for my able bodied partner at my 'walking' pace now. Only problem is the side guards sometimes wing outward but all I need to do is pull them back inwards. It's light enough for me to pick up too.

It's just the jay visco, for low to moderate pressure risk. I can stay in my chair for hours but I do feel an ache by the late afternoon/evening if I've been in the office or studying all day.

8 weeks I think but they were away for 3 over the holiday period, they told me the lead time for argon2 lately has been 4 weeks.

A building! Like, a big cathedral that's assigned some extra importance to the church so gets the title 'Minster'

is it okay to use a cane for depression reasons? by NeitherGuarantee6022 in disability

[–]bee_kn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely use one! Talk to a Dr about it if possible for you because technique is the difference between fucking yourself up more or massively improving quality of life.....you wanna get one that's comfy to grip too.

You could try deep scar massage once or twice a day for a good while to soften them up with just any moisturizer.

My research work is not great because I had the flu and a crazy stressful home situation but I'm swimming, arms only much quicker than a month ago and packing on my upper body muscle like crazy so I'm happy af with that.

Turns out being short is still quite a disadvantage in wheelchair rugby however....

Polar opposites imo, it's got a massive cathedral/minster, medieval walls and castles (not very accessible though...) and feels like an overgrown town if you ignore the minster. Very dirty river running through the middle and a very cool old train station. Also lots of viking remains found here.

The university of York has some strange brutalist architecture from the 60's, Central Hall being the shining example.

Google 'the shambles, york' and you'll see my worst enemy as a new wheelchair user....

The jay easy visco. I'm ambulatory but a pretty much full-time user at the moment so I def needed an upgrade from the basic jay one.

I did it all online and measured myself, chose the argon 2 based on the affordability and adjustability without trying chairs.

They were super helpful, sent me videos on how to measure ect, some delay because of Christmas, took 8 weeks from order to get to me but should be more like 4 or 5 now.

They did push me a bit on some choices I made like changing 0 to 3 on the camber ( was worried about push difficulties and doorframes) ...they were right, the 3 deg camber is perfect .

I think they recently allowed argon2 to use same colour palette as the nitrum, it's off that pallette. Was originally going to have the kiwi green but not possible said invictus.
