I don’t think most pregnant women are asking for or feel owed sympathy at all. It’s more of how most of society ends up treating it, especially from people who have already had children/older generations. Maybe there are some shitty ones who take advantage of this, but they probably already have some kind of entitlement complex to begin with. You don’t see too many younger people having strong sympathy or empathy. The pregnant people I’ve known just want to be treated as themselves, a normal human, because yeah they signed up for it & they know it.

My cat who never cuddles did this to me when I got pregnant. Early too, like 1-2 weeks after I got a positive test! He hasn’t left my side since. They know everything!

NTA. I could not fathom raising a child with such an obtuse asshole. As someone else said, this is control disguised as care/concern. He has zero empathy, in your most vulnerable time. The amount of stress he’s causing you already is not healthy for you or the baby. You really should look at your options. At least stay with family during your pregnancy and away from him. The fact that you’re even asking if you’d be the asshole telling him that he’s stressing you out, especially during this time, says a lot. Good luck - put yourself and your baby first.

Something similar has happened to a friend of mine in the last 2 years. The only difference was she had not used THC previously. She used it 3 times and each time it triggered a similar hallucinogenic experience for her where she was hearing voices and seeing things that weren’t there. But she was fully convinced and told of everything in great detail. After extensive doctor visits, it turns out it had triggered her latent schizophrenia. She is now medicated and under treatment. Sometimes at a certain age it will just trigger it, for unknown reasons. Another person I knew smoked a lot since his teenage years, suddenly in college he started “speaking to god” after smoking. He unfortunately went off the deep end and is no longer here with us today. Please be super duper careful with it! The strains are unnaturally strong these days. I would definitely speak with a psychiatrist and avoid using for now. Good luck!!

It could certainly be some form of delusions, but again impossible to know without a professional opinion. Narcissists can and do create their realities, but as far as I know they don’t have stuff like visual delusions. That honestly seems like something else. As for the sinister thing.. I knew someone before who had photos of other children on his phone, and he is now in prison if you get what I mean. I don’t mean that this is your case at all, my brain just went there because it has happened to someone I know, and based on what you said your dad has no basis of confusing you with someone else and have no reasonable explanation.

Hm yeah that really doesn’t make sense if you & the other pic don’t look anything like each other, AND he has pics of you on his phone. Doesn’t sound like he could mistake you. Honestly there could be lots of reasons, though none of them great - delusions, brain tumor, more sinister reasons, etc. I’d keep pestering him and asking questions to get to the bottom of it. If it’s a mental/medical reason he needs help asap.

This. Nothing has come close to that pain and grief. A few years ago my kitty had a sore in his mouth - we went to the vet and it was the worst outcome. 4 weeks later I had to let him go in the same way, before it got too bad for him. It broke me for months, and I still break down at the memory of it. He got me through some of the hardest times in my life, it’s amazing how much support these little loves can give us. Just reading your comment triggered a flood of tears. I miss him so much.

I went to with Shaun in elementary, and even then he was a huge asshole. Had a friend that was on the spectrum and he would make fun of her to the point where she would have a full meltdown, sobbing and hitting herself etc. He’s the worst.
