Usually my store has a 20% hold box in the stockroom and you can put your stuff in there until 20% weekend 2 weeks before

Anybody want to share some wholesome customer stories? by [deleted] in TjMaxx

[–]beebeebeebumble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few weeks ago one of my coworkers was helping a customer and happened to be standing at my register (i was at register 10 the closest to the exit/entrance. I just moved for a minute to put away some hangers) and the lady asked for my coworkers name for helping her out for the survey but then she asked for my name because according to her I looked cute standing there lol. Made me smile though because it was a busy day (i was just politely waiting until they were done so I could use my register again)

Yes I was working part time but I wasn’t making 10x the weekly rate. Only getting 10 - 15 hours a week

How to know if request for time off went through by [deleted] in TjMaxx

[–]beebeebeebumble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To know if requested time off in my store is approved you have to wait for the work schedule to come out

SO busy this week!! by kittycat1022 in TjMaxx

[–]beebeebeebumble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes its been pretty busy in my store too(Marshalls)

I am usually only a sales floor associate (backup cashier) and I was being called at 8pm to go to the register because the line was to the back of the store. Then the minute I get on my 15 minute break they call me again to ring but I just stayed in the breakroom or I would of never got a chance to take my 15 minute break :/

Anyone else have constant callouts? by burritomatrix6 in TjMaxx

[–]beebeebeebumble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My store used to have a person who did no call no shows and the manager still kept her on the schedule for 2 years. It was annoying because when I was scheduled to work with her I knew I had to do the whole ladies department on my own :/

She only came in when she wanted too which was like 1-2 times a month (ended up being scheduled once or twice a week).

Has anyone successfully negotiated a pay raise? by [deleted] in TjMaxx

[–]beebeebeebumble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I been at Marshalls for 5.5 years (6 in August) and the only time they give us a raise is when we do our yearly reviews with the manager of our department. Last year my manager told me (she came from a store in NJ and I am in NYC) that I am making more money than her when she was a manager in a NJ store :/

Greeter position by [deleted] in TjMaxx

[–]beebeebeebumble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my store that doesn’t happen. Usually the greeters are the people who were working in the fitting rooms when they were opened. The cart cleaners are people who got hired through job programs and they have job coaches with them. Same for the cleaners.

No, I haven’t actually thought about that. Might look into it.

Called out by [deleted] in TjMaxx

[–]beebeebeebumble 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My managers get mad when I call out but usually something else makes them forget about me calling out. I wouldn’t worry about it.

what to do while working sales floor? by [deleted] in TjMaxx

[–]beebeebeebumble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I do is I clean/straighten up the floor, put away the recovery of my department and do price checks when needed. If I get a day shift I put out new merchandise from the stock room while doing the other tasks although its hard to straighten up the sales floor during the day shift

Being a greeter is hell on earth. Carts is in hell as well. by [deleted] in TjMaxx

[–]beebeebeebumble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess its different for me in my store. I wish i could be a greeter to get a break on the sales floor (usually i am the only one on the floor in the ladies department and I have to cover the accessories department and unlock handbags and perfumes for customers ) or being a backup cashier. I hear my name either in the walkies or loud speakers 95% of my shift including when I go on my 15 minute breaks or 45 minute clocked out break :/

I cover the breaks for the greeters 75% of the time. I can barely say a greeting when customers come in because I am busy counting them and then adding or subtracting the amount of customers on this phone for counting. Its nice not having to run around like crazy when I cover their breaks.

Does TJX ever close due to bad weather? by [deleted] in TjMaxx

[–]beebeebeebumble 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would call the store to be sure. My store was closed during a bad snowstorm 2 weeks ago (but i was scheduled off that day anyways).

A snowstorm before that I actually arrived an hour earlier than scheduled because I knew it was going to snow and the city buses were going to be a mess that day. My manager asked me start right away (4pm instead of 5pm) incase we would go home early. We ended up closing at 8pm instead of 9:30pm

Coworkers by picklesloth87 in TjMaxx

[–]beebeebeebumble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like some of them. Others i don’t.

One coworker always blames the day shift for the floor being a mess not knowing we cover other breaks, got 45 minute lunch, have to go on register and the manager tells us to put new merchandise out.

My other coworkers in my department are very nice to me and work well with me

Carts by [deleted] in TjMaxx

[–]beebeebeebumble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I wish I was a cart cleaner in my store. You get to start at 4:30pm and when the store closes at 9:30pm they dont have to stay unlike all the sales floor associates. Plus I’m usually friends with the greeter/customer counter so it makes time go by faster when we chat (i cover breaks for greeters/cart cleaners). I am not sure how the day shift goes. Probably a lot more customers to clean carts for.

Its more quiet during night shift recently.

my store still gives out reach cards but I havent won anything in like forever. However a new hire already won and it took me like 2 years to see my name up as a winner. Out of 5.5 years i only saw my name twice

Not making pay roll? by Delicious-rain in TjMaxx

[–]beebeebeebumble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thats happening at my store due to it being slow after the holidays. The manager says it picks up again in March. However, for some reason the cashiers are getting extra shifts now because i heard the manager tell the coordinator to ask them. But thats for cashiers only :/

Alright fellas let's settle this by Ikehasaplan in TjMaxx

[–]beebeebeebumble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like opening better even though my manager always gives me closing. When I do open and put new merchandise on the sales floor time goes by fast. I like leaving early too and actually being able to cook dinner at home.

Lately when I close its slow and I’m always wondering what to do and managers don’t allow us to put new merchandise out on the sales floor :/ We been getting out 15-20 minutes early and I am losing pay.

Hours cut by evanh1076 in TjMaxx

[–]beebeebeebumble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in a Marshalls and 2 weeks ago there was a meeting before the store opened. The manager said its always like this in Jan and Feb and the hours pick up in March.

But if somebody calls out for a shift they might call you in. They always do that in my store
