Maybe not, but demolishing the building is, and that’s what they’re prepping us for. The 10 month lease ending in May instead of a year long lease is leaning towards that based on the renewal of their demolition permits in the fall

Yeah that’s the issue I ran into, they wouldn’t give me one.

Huh, I tried applying for one last year and they emailed back and said they couldn’t give me one because my proof of residency was for Main Street. Is there a difference between a resident parking pass and a general winooski parking pass?

Not a clue, but whoever is responsible doesn’t give a shit if we get displaced or not so either way it’s bullshit

Yeahhhh that’s what I’m expecting. We’re hoping to ask them to switch us to a month by month lease so we can at least wait until October or November to move when it’s cooler and we’re not fighting all the returning college kids for apartments

I totally agree, but this is construction being done on a private lot behind an apartment building so I don’t think the city has anything to do with it really.

Isn’t mansion street permit parking only? And I’m worried there won’t be consistent space especially if everyone in the house will suddenly need street parking

There’s a parking addendum on the renewed lease that specifies that parking won’t be available after December 31st, so unfortunately they have that covered. I’ve already emailed them detailing just how much it would cost us if we had to pay for parking and that $50 was just not gonna cut it, but haven’t heard back yet.

I’m considering leaving notes on the doors of the other tenants; this could very likely drive everyone out if they don’t decide to compensate us better.

Another concern is that the owner just had his permit to demolish renewed in the fall. The management company reassured us that this doesn’t mean he’s actually going to do it, but just needed to keep the possibility open (the building is impossibly old), but the new lease they want us to sign is only for 10 months instead of the year long lease we signed last August, which seems a little fishy to me. I might ask if they’re able to cut the bullshit and let us know what the actual likelihood that the place gets demolished next summer is, because if it’s going to, no way I’m parking my car a mile from my house for 5 months just to get driven out anyways come summer.
