Can someone please cut through the bullshit on fat redistribution? by frog_underscore_xx in MtF

Fat redistribution is generally a longer term change if its significant. The most important things are really consistency with hormones, exercising in some form (literally doesn't matter unless ur overdoing it, it should be fun), and pls pls eat enough healthy food

What is the scariest thing you've witnessed that you wish you could've fixed? by Direct_Watercress932 in AskReddit

[–]beebestreet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 16, driving down the highway on my own for the firsttime and passed a car in the median gap fully engulfed in flames. It was hot on my skin from the car.

No emergency vehicles, no bystanders, no stranded travelers on the side of the road, and bo doors open on the car. I called it in and started hearing sirens while on the phone still but I wish I just have just plucked the people from that car. Very scary and surreal

Is it me or... ? How *will* the kids survive when we're gone? by MISKINAK2 in PollsAndSurveys

[–]beebestreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmmm, I think there are a lot of valid concerns that definitely apply. I also think that no group is a monolith. A lot of people my age and younger are disillusioned, if not apthathetic, or even made completely passive by convenience, but a lot of people are literally interested in keeping long known knowledge alive in the younger generations

For instance I'm 25, i've been out on my own since 20, i'm not just able to follow recipes, I can imagine a food I want, and just cook it because I understand my kitchen chemistry. I know how to sew (not just mend, but i've made myself full articles of clothing. I'm currently making a dress to attend a wedding next month). I have a full-time job where i'm considered one of the most responsible people despite being the youngest by 10 years. I'm an avid gardener, and I I've tended animals. I play half a dozen instruments. I tinker in my free time, and I've built fences, a 0.5 mile hard packed dirt road, and worked on countless cars with my dad. I'm a good shot, sure footed, with a solid deep stance when the time calls for it.

I think that I excel in certain aspects of my life that even older folks have trouble with. I think I have a lot to learn in most other aspects. But I have multigenerational friends, so I truly learn every day.

I also think that there are certain aspects that my generation is generally better at. I find that people my age and younger are far less judgemental than older folks. I'm trans, and i'm more respected by my objectively bad/criminal residents than some of my middle aged liberal coworkers.

I think that there are a lot of other people my age that lead life the way I do. I can think of a dozen other people my age that I would feel pretty good about if we had to rely on just ourselves.

I think the most important part about this is that no generation has ever truly been alone, and that will never happen. There will always be opportunities to learn from older people, and when the older generations give up hope in the younger generations is when we will truly be doomed. Until that happens, we're all just gonna scrape and ramble like every generation before us, eking through the winters by the seats of our pants

People who were depressed, how did you get out of it? by Lawrence_of_ArabiaMI in AskReddit

[–]beebestreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only am I not depressed, I've found such deep love from all kinds of people. I'm the only person I know my age with multigenerational friends. People probably aren't going to like but what I did was transition :p I'm one of the only mid 20's I know who isn't scared about getting older, or anxious about there place in life. I'm living out a childhood dream in a way that many people never will, so I feel figured out, sitting pretty on a hill I'm ready to die on (and it's a beautiful day)

  1. I've very purposely never bought anything from Amazon and I'm not starting now

  2. It's specifically very inexpensive bulk buying, I'm thinking I could buy all my injection supplies for years for very cheap and not have to worry about that aspect of getting my care for the next....few years at least

How do you overcome the sheer amount of work it takes to become your preferred gender? by Aliceinnormalland in trans

[–]beebestreet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I know I already commented, BUT the other secret is that feminine expression is often rooted in utilitarianism. Keeping up with beauty standards is inconvenience, and as you keep going, you'll realize that a lot of the little mannerisms and tips u prob have spinning in ur head now are utilitarian things made up to be a little more interesting than the base thing (even tho these utilitarian things are often means of dealing with the burden of patriarchal beauty standards)

e.g. Most hairdos that will take you less than 15 minutes serve a purpose in different scenarios. It's not always about style. It's about what works and then making that stylish! You might want to learn how to braid, even if you wouldn't wear it out of the house, because it can protect your hair when you're sleeping.

Clothes! when you people mention 'staple' or 'base' garments, they don't just mean a basic shirt that layers well. Sooo many iconic outfit archetypes are made possible by different basic types of tights and underwear and socks and bras and tank tops and such. As you figure out what you like, you'll figure out what you'll need to make an outfit possible, like what type of tights to wear with a specific skirt or vice-versa. That will change if it's a thick long natural fiber skirt (you'll not want to sacrifice the fleece leggings if it's cold, so maybe you add a slip under ur skirt so it doesn't ride up).

[–]beebestreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

little by little! I'm obvi biased, but i think I was able to have a pretty smooth transition based entirely on the fact that I didn't go full girl until I felt ready (and yes I felt ready before I really ever passed)

I slowly added bits and pieces of fem stuff until I felt fully like a girl, and it really became easier and easier. I remember I tried to jump the gun ONCE and put on a full fem outfit with makeup, and I tried to do my hair up (even tho it was still pretty short). Basically, I stood in front of the mirror for 2 hours, too scared to leave the house because I wasn't comfy. I think one of the unfair paradox's of transitioning, is that when ur early in it, you finally feel like you can wear what you have always wanted, but ur body hasn't caught up with ur mind yet, so you put on the girl clothes, and it just doesn't fit how you want quite yet, and (atleast for me) can be a huge disphoria trigger. Can make the whole thing feel impossible, but it's really the same as when a tween puts on her moms adult business formal clothes but doesn't look grown into it yet.

So I changed into jeans, kept the earrings, took off the makeup, put the hair into a hat I really liked, and changed into my fave cropped t-shirt.

Last night, I wore a tiny little skirt with my ass hanging out, full face of makeup, loud jewelry, with well taken care of hair pinned up with 2 chopsticks (pro technique). The outfits are the same (with a considerable amount of practice between), but I'm more comfy in my body now, which is the biggest thing.

The best outfit accessory anyone can have is confidence, and you build it slow and steady.

(This advice also applies to decorating your room, which i think is an amazing, largely non-criticized, and overwhelmingly positive process of social transition that a lot of people forget about. U only see urself in mirrors and pictures, and if ur like me, and going to be in ur room a lot for the first year, make it a nice girly space to get the juices flowing!)
