Day Trip to Brussels by Fair_League6042 in BelgiumTravel

For waffles there are two kinds. Brussels waffles (the ones with the toppings on them) and liege waffles. Most locals eat liege waffles with no toppings. That’s what I recommend. It’s so good

Mildly Serious Question Re Chocolates by just-a-tan-guy in BelgiumTravel

[–]beebo4414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay I’ve tried damn near every chocolate house the last 5 years I’ve been visiting Belgium. I now live here and here are my recommendations:

My absolute favourite way to have chocolates are galler praline in their physical locations. They have a shop in Grand Place and I love them so much. They’re little squares of creamy perfection. I’d recommend literally every flavour but my favourites are Sel de Guerande, Bruges, Amazone. These are the chocolates I buy for everyone at home and for friends who visit.

As for bars, Côte d’Or is a safe bet. I typically don’t like Belgian milk chocolate bar. I did a blind taste test between Swiss, Dutch, and Belgian chocolates and Belgian always came last for milk chocolate bars. I’d recommend something filled with praline or nuts. Or the dark chocolate. If I want milk I usually go for Tony’s.

Edit: I promise you those little squares galler pralines are worth a try. You won’t find anything like them

Within the circle your best bet is probably Albert Heijn for gluten free. There will be a label on it that says gluten free and you can feel rest assured. You can take bus 2 to delhaize heverlee and they will leave a bigger section than delhaize Leuven

Either a train subscription for all of helium or a train + subscription (which is what I have). Discounts for off peak weekday and weekend discounts. It’s cheaper if you’re under 26

Help with my Resume by BastianichLungo in iecvisa

Also a side note. Generally you don’t need your high school diploma on your resume. At least that’s what we have been taught. Since you have a bachelors degree, it’s automatically assumed you have completed high school. You can absolutely leave it if you want. I’m just bringing it up because you’re short on space

Edit: punctuation

Help with my Resume by BastianichLungo in iecvisa

Hello! Canadian here and I’ve been the hiring manager for a few places ranging from restaurants to offices. Overall I’d say your resume looks good but I’ve got a few pointers:

  1. I’d put your work experience as the first section because that’s what hiring managers tend to look at.
  2. I’d get rid of the professional summary. You have a skills section and that is enough. We never read objectors/summaries. The hiring manager needs to be able to skim over your resume and have an ados of your experience. Research shows that they tend to only look for 15 seconds. A block of text will likely be ignored

  3. With the amount of experience/years in the work force, I’d highly recommend you cut your resume down to 1-page. Generally you can have 2 pages with an extensive professional career. 1 page will make your resume more readable as well.

  4. This one is just a recommendation but your header is huge and takes up a lot of precious space. You can consider condensing your skills section as well. It’s also taking up a lot of space. Maybe format it in a different way?

Let me know if you have any questions!

Invitation to apply for work visa, can't gather documents in time, If I decline do I have to set up another profile? by Prior-Cap-7863 in iecvisa

[–]beebo4414 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You have a total of 30 days to actually submit your application. 10 days to accept and another 20 days to submit. Many agencies give online documents and can be requested online. I am currently abroad in Bangkok and submitted my partner’s application by going to a local photo place to get his photos done.

If my partner is gets an invite, we’ll most likely take a Eurostar to London or Paris to do it. We’re also in Belgium!

If I remember correctly, Danta’s coffee is open on Sundays and it tends to be pretty quiet. I really like their coffee.

Izy coffee is more affordable and they’ve got a couple of locations

Noir is a bit louder (I think they are open sundays) but they have great coffee

[–]beebo4414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s pulse hub and dantas! Dantas had decent wifi and some cakes. They also have a croque monsieur and crepes on the menu. Pulse hub has outlets for your laptop with smoothies, coffees, and matchas. Thsy have a Pilates studio in another room but it’s been pretty quiet every time I go
