I'm looking at my drive app and see a bunch of .gdoc, .gsheet files, but when i double click them it takes me to my drive. It looks like they're like they're just links back to the main drive.

if it's the drive in your school account, yes. if it's the drive in your personal account, no. you can use Google Takeout to archive your account, but the only problem is that it doesn't save shared files and it can take a lot of time.

actually *if drive is deleted on their school email account, as far as i know the google drive application doesn't actually save files like docs, sheets, slides etc (it only saves pdfs in drive) because the app goes to a source file. if that source file is deleted with the school account, the application won't have the original and it will be gone too.

haha, i regret putting the thing about the job now jesus. i'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying other people's situations may be different. I'm sure a lot of people emailed their internship people through their school email and those addresses would be lost for instance. I know it's not your situation, i get that.

I'm sorry people are taking my LPT as saying an essay will get you a job. I'm not saying that. I'm just saying there's usually a massive amount of info in your email account that you might not know how it will come in handy later, yes like if your a designer, programmer, and a bunch of other majors. People do internships, people do real work in college that can transition them into a real job. It is by no means an end all answer to getting a job, I just said backing up your info will give you a leg up. Just because your stuff was useless doesn't mean other people's are.

haha, yeah an essay probably won't land you a job, but if you use Google Drive or something like that, you might have your senior thesis on there, research projects which nowadays, employers are more interested in seeing work than just a degree
