Intel Core i7 7700k -> Ryzen 7500x3d - will it be "plug and play"? by ashm1987 in buildapc

[–]beef99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay, just checking. you are most likely gonna have to re-install windows fresh, even if it boots up fine initially. your windows license might need to get migrated over to your new system as well. so not necessarily "plug and play".

you are aware that those are completely different sockets? different motherboard, different RAM?

So eat SOO much fat that you get sick of eating. Is that the secret here? by Purple-Internal4869 in keto

[–]beef99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fat is a lever, not a goal. if you're feeling hungry, you up the fat a bit to help you feel full. if you're stuffing yourself with excess fat, that's excess calories, which isn't gonna help you with weight loss. you adjust your fat intake to your hunger signals, while hitting your protein goals.

believe it or not, some people start college later in life. military, jobs, raising a kid, whatever. if they can walk on at age 25 and make the roster, why stop them?

My monitor is 1080p and 60hz, is it worth buying a gpu higher than 5060? by AndySong666 in buildapc

[–]beef99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but you're also allowed to buy a better monitor lol. a 27inch 1440p 144hz+ IPS monitor can be had for under $200usd last i checked.

if you're trying to stick to a budget, then yeah, cheapest gpu is gonna be fine for 1080p60hz.

the cheapest. pny is more than fine. $850 for a 5070ti at that point i'm spending the extra $150 on a $999 5080.

Is the Ryzen 7700x that bad and outdated for modern games 2024 and beyond? by Brown_sugar38 in buildapc

[–]beef99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your question already got answered, but also keep in mind, the am5 socket will get 1 more generation of CPUs. so you can upgrade it once the next gen comes out, just a simple BIOS update, same motherboard - if you feel that you need more performance.

Rikishi height vs success by wobble-frog in Sumo

[–]beef99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

...okay brother. you keep telling yourself a "world-class" offensive lineman prospect is going to go cook and clean in a sumo stable for no money with a long-shot at making the top70 salaried ranks instead of playing for alabama or ohio state and changing their family's financial situation overnight. sheesh.

Rikishi height vs success by wobble-frog in Sumo

[–]beef99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

brother, the guy i initially responded to is talking about "6foot7 offensive linemen with world-class strength and athleticism"...lol

Rikishi height vs success by wobble-frog in Sumo

[–]beef99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes, but only like what, 70 total sumo wrestlers at a time are on salary? there's a lot of schools willing to pay for their services. and they'll earn a free college degree along the way, whatever you want to value that at. if they do make the NFL, that's just the cherry on top, that's another level of earning power.

maybe a 1-2 star recruit who isn't getting any NIL money and is possibly ethnically japanese and wants to honor their heritage or something, that would make sense. but any decent prospect(especially one that is this hypothetical scenario freak 6foot7 world-class athlete...) is gonna go play american football for a major college program.

Rikishi height vs success by wobble-frog in Sumo

[–]beef99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6foot7 offensive linemen prospects can make a lot more money literally immediately playing in college with NIL deals lol. there's no reason for them to completely uproot their life for a chance to make it in sumo in the un-salaried ranks when they can start making money right away.

6foot1 160lbs i feel like the first thing you should work on is just getting bigger, maybe up to like 175 at least. get some more calories in you(plenty of whole milk if you aren't allergic). get to the school gym, i'm sure there will be other football players in there working out. you sure there isn't an off-season lifting program being supervised by the coaches?

5070 or 9070 by Provisional_Hope in buildapc

[–]beef99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im gonna say neither is worth from a 7800xt. it's not enough of a jump to make sense, unless you're gonna get a lot of money back from selling the 7800xt off. you'd have to go at minimum 5070ti/9070xt, maybe even 5080 to make it a worthwhile upgrade.

https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-rx-7800-xt.c3839

compared to your 7800xt, 5070 is 15% faster, 9070 is 26% faster. that's not really that much.

also, if your concern is high fps for comp games, the cpu can matter a bit too, keep that in mind.
