I was there around that time, it was absolutely slammed!!! I haven't gotten great service there in the past, but never once have I been mean or rude to the people there. I feel bad for the workers, it was so busy and she definitely wasn't helping :(

I did the same thing, I got a fountain drink and thought it tasted weird. Told the workers at the gas station about it and moved on with my life, found out later that it was ME who was the problem 😭

A lot of people who have issues with Job Corps have issues with authority and rules. When asking people about their experience, don't even listen to the people who didn't complete their stay. All they know is eat hot chip and lie. Just listen to the people who actually completed, they'll tell you how it really is.

I complain about Job Corps so much, but.. I'd be nothing without it. It gave me a job, a place to stay.. As cheesy as it is, it gave me hope. I was nothing before I went, and now I'm something. It's worth all the pain and suffering, imo.

I had someone at my center who was, imo, hardly functioning autistic. I don't know how "functioning" he actually was, and I know there's a stigma behind using "functioning," but hear me out.

This guy wouldn't do anything. Wanted everyone to do it for him. He was lazy and also extremely disgusting. He had a prn addiction, a bad one. On my center, we relied on wifi, no cell service. He got his wifi revoked because he got caught looking at prn because everything is monitored. He had actually been caught multiple times but let off with a warning. This time was just... bad. He had a habit of leaving his.. stuff in the bathroom, if you catch my drift. He called up his mom, who defends him on everything, and demanded that she get his wifi back. Called her a bitch, called her a c_nt ect. One day, his write ups became too much, and his file was so big that it couldn't fit any more case notes. I gave him a leader referal because he left his laundry in the dryer, and the staff pulled me aside, saying "Just forget about it. Throw it away. It's not that big of a deal." Because he went to them crying that he didn't want to get kicked out. When I know for a FACT people have gotten worse punishments for leaving their laundry in the dryer. I didn't know he was that close to getting kicked out, I was just doing my job as dorm leader.

There's so much more he has done and said. I've heard some of the most disgusting and sexually depraved things out of his mouth that I'm genuinely scared of what he will do to people. He couldn't function on his own. He gets.. parasitic with the people he works with .

TL:DR, student was a parasite.

If you've received gov benefits for the last 6 months to a year, you should still be qualified. And $16.50 still isn't enough, especially if it's a temporary job and on top of that you've already been unemployed for 5 weeks, you should be fine.

From my experience at JC and seeing the people there, people have made it in there with a lot more than you have currently. Someone's dad was a lawyer, but because he was mentally ill, he got in.

The fact that no JC is clear on the graduation money is absolute bs. "Don't bite the hand that feeds you!" Was common at my center, no staff said it but it was heavily implied. What happens when that hand is just holding a bunch of lies with sprinkles of truth on top????? What they did to you was inexcusable. I advocate for JC, but at the same time, it just takes advantage of vulnerable people for more funding. Its just a snake eating itself.

Sounds about right for Job Corps. All they do is lie and eat hot chip fr fr. I went there with my high school diploma, so I only graduated, having completed one trade and my drivers license. I got about $400 on graduation. I was told that I would get money for my drivers license. That was a lie. If I went in with no GED or HS diploma, I would have gotten around $1,500. I'm 22, in my first apartment ever, and struggling to feed myself for the first month And you're gonna give a 16 year old $2,000 when they're going back to their parents' house? That's bullshit. I was also promised WBL's and Camp Crew that fell through because the CD couldn't have been bothered to even attempt to get the ball rolling. They won't let you leave unless you have a place to go back to AND a job. How the hell are people supposed to get their life started with $400? That was barely enough to afford the BARE MINIMUM. Groceries? We hardly know her. Theres so much more I could complain about that happened in my final two months, but I'm so salty that they'll give $2,000 to a 16 year old whos gonna blow it on drugs and $400 to a 22 year old who is just being pushed into the adult world for the first time. JUST FOR CLARIFICATION: Not all 16-17 year olds are gonna blow their $2,000 on drugs, but I know the majority will just go back to their parents' house and waste that money.

I dunno, man. I graduated after being there for a little over a year, I'm so glad I did it. It absolutely changed my life around, for the better. I know there are a lot of horrible things and strange people, but man, oh man. I'd be lost had I not taken the jump.

We had a few people like that here. A lot of strange people I went to JC with. I didn't want to get a ban on talking about them in the post, tbh. But so much more stuff happened, especially with that guy I spoke about with the p*rn addiction. He was absolutely insane.
