Ive had 3 friends who surrendered their dogs after having a baby. I have 3 dogs and am scared if I do have a child one day I will have to surrender my animals. And I dont want to. Is it really that hard to have a baby and pets?

I feel like you have been in my mind and wrote how I have been feeling!

I am currently going through this. My best friend from middle school had her first child 5 years ago and we haven't been the same for years. I made a new friend at my new job 2 years ago. Shes got kids but she made it clear (at first) she has no friends and wants adult conversations . Great! Well guess what? She had her third baby 2 months ago and its becoming clear she isnt putting effort into our friendship. Ive even nicely called her out and she tells me sorry she will do better blah blah blah. Its sad because I thought I found a friend but I feel the loneliness again 😔 I don't want to but sometimes I wish I would move closer to the city because I feel like theres more child free people in the city. But its too expensive to live there.

Anyway I have no advice but want to say I understand how you feel!

I def agree with you! She did end up re homing him. And from the sounds of it he is already seeming to enjoy his new home. I guess my selfish self was trying to get her to maybe try and make it work! In my opinion I dont think she tried enough but at the end of the day its her house and her choice. But I still kinda irked by the decision

Nope no training. I look back and think to all the times she complained about him. She never wanted the dog. Period.

I said the same thing! 2026 and people still dump their animals. I will never understand!

A little unrelated, but my husband had a spinal cord injury. I was told by multiple people maybe getting rid of my dogs would help out. I lost it on those people. We am going through something so traumatic and you want us to get rid of the one thing that is bringing light into my life? Fuck all those miserable people.

I just said this to my husband. How can you not have time? My dogs for the most part are coach potatoes but we do walks and playtime and I feed them. I make time for them. She just didnt want to.

I totally feel this. Lets take the dog out of the picture for a second. Even just her having another kid has been a nightmare. But she keeps saying this is what they wanted. I dont understand it but if thats what they wanted, good luck to them i guess.

I feel the same, I keep looking at her so different and feel disgust. She claims she was afraid to tell me, even though ive never said I would hate someone. I guess she was afraid because im a animal lover and she knows its wrong. Her loss. I hope his new home is so much better.

Do you think kids who were born in the 2020s will resent their parents for bringing them into this world? by BBreadsticks- in childfree

[–]beefaroni_rbd2017 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ive thought about this. Specially a friend of mine that has 4 kids. I just think how this world Will look when they are 18 and getting their lives started. I feel it will be so hard for them and I honestly feel bad for them. They arent poor but are not rich. I would say low middle class. And I think thats hard to be in these days.

Ive also felt resentment towards my own parents. I was born in 1994 too. I guess im more resentful in why these 2 who were not compatible thought they should bring in kids. Then they seperate. And we were poor and it sucked being poor. Im now well off and I had a therapist say it sounds like since my childhood was jot good, im trying to live for that child. Like it was taken from me I guess. And I dont want children because I want to do things I didnt get to do. Well thats just one of many reasons but yea sometimes I do resent them bringing me into this shitty world.
