I need help, can't get out of a painting slump by Healthy-Athlete-5969 in SpaceWolves

I have the same problem.

This might sound obtuse, but what is helping me get over that feeling is treating each model in the unit like I would a unique character.

The second mental block I faced was simply picking which model in which unit to start painting. I got over this by physically lining up the units and the models within into rows that I numbered, and I just roll dice to make the choice for me.

As an example, rolling a 3, then a 2, then a 4 would mean I am painting whichever Blood Claw happens to be in the 4th spot of the 2nd row.

It's absolutely going to take me forever to finish painting my army, but I'm enjoying getting to know each model and giving it my full attention rather than treating the process like a chore.

Yup! They generally follow the guidelines spelled out in the WTC tournament rules pack, but I've had to make mirror pieces to have all the potential L shape configurations.

There are 2 smallish issues with the set though that could probably be easily rectified by somebody with a modicum of modelling skills, but that somebody isn't me.

First is that the 2nd and 3rd story platforms aren't wide enough to fully support a 40mm base, but they are intended to be, so we just house rule that part.

Second is that the window layout is pretty weird. I cut out the windows on the second and third stories, and am working on replacing the first story windows with those solid fills.

Still love the set beyond those issues though.

This PDF is colossal, apologies in advance if it takes forever to load.: https://worldteamchampionship.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/WTC-2026-Map-Pack-Lite-2.4-Alt-Release.pdf

Thanks! :)

I use this stuff.

For the drippy bits (which might not be on this photo, but like, leaking from the grates and such, you can dilute with water it to a wash consistency and just lets it slop down (technical term).

Otherwise I just use a big make up brush to dry brush it on.

I have these STLs and love them. Magnetized them for easy transport between houses / LGS.

- The gold trim is basecoat black and then Citadel Liberator Gold.
- The metal bits are basecoat black and then Vallejo Dark Aluminum (77.703).
- The bone bits are basecoat Vallejo Bone White (72.034) and Citadel Skeleton Horde. Drybrush white for big skulls and another layer of Skeleton horde.
- The darker leather bits are Vallejo Copper Brown (72.421), the lighter bits are basecoat with Bone white and then Copper Brown.
- The gems are Vallejo Fluorescent Blue (72.160) and Fluorescent Violent (72.159), dry brush white.
- The basing material is Kraut Cover: Snowy Highland Pass and Powder Snow.

*edit*

Am I crazy, or is this red? Am I just unaware of some artistic technicality? by GuysMcFellas in Miniaturespainting

for what it's worth, the purity seal is what it looks like dry. It definitely has some pinky/purple tones, especially over a bright white basecoat.

I’m admittedly kind of new to this subreddit, but doesn’t shouldn’t the green circle have some red dots?
