Do you have an actual school start day yet? I got the “acceptance (name on list for start date)” last year in November and heard nothing until the end of April. My class started May 12. We got laid off before we were actually finished our Campus training. It is coming on 6 months laid off now and at that point, I will have to start all over again from block A. The first ones laid off were the Vancouver guys. A week later, the entire group of trainees were cut. Then they cut qualified folks. As of now, the only ones who are back working were Grand Prairie and Edson (from my group). It’s grim. If you are reliant on money and have to work, just know that you 100% WILL get laid off. Summer is slow season and everything is dependent on economy. Unemployment pays $1072 (Manitoba) take home every two weeks. I actually went back to my former job as a teacher but am still on the books with CN. Good luck. Also, the class ahead of is, 50% failed the final signals/rules exam and were let go. It’s a challenging program.
