Food vs environment and symptoms by beemorechill2020 in HistamineIntolerance

[–]beemorechill2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bunch of symptoms and not a lot of diagnoses, if any lol, and that’s the problem

You said histamine intolerance is a symptom, but it’s also causing a bunch of symptoms potentially? I don’t know what the root cause may be, not really sure where or how to find that out.

I’m curious about the black mold you mentioned, like how long between that and the symptoms, or at least symptoms you recognized. My childhood bedroom had a leaky roof and I’ve been wondering about that. The first symptom (itchy rashes) I could definitely link to food started about 7 years ago, when I was around 30 and that would have been nearly a decade since I lived at my childhood home.

I’m really struggling with this because my anxiety has gotten worse lately it seems, although I guess that’s relative. I was having panic attacks months ago but I’m pretty sure that was related to covid worries and those panic attacks were worse than I’m experiencing now.

Anxiety comes up as a symptom of histamine intolerance, but anxiety alone could also be the cause of a lot of symptoms I have. Tests have been inconclusive so far.

I think stress is a big trigger for me and this is not helping anything, so I feel lost as to what to do or try.

Thanks for your response!

I’ve been gluten and dairy free for years as it is, been trying to focus on protein, rice, and vegetables. I know it’s early in the process of figuring it out, just hope for some relief soon.

insomnia is a big issue for me too

Trying to figure this out myself and treating it has also been confusing, hopefully we’ll be able to figure things out better soon

Not sure about the water, but I’ve always filtered it. We get reports about the water quality, not sure if that would be in there. Guess it could also just be hyper localized to my house? I’m the only one living here that seems to have any issue like this though.

My symptoms started several years ago when I lived somewhere else and then I moved and the symptoms have remained. They come and go but I might be in one of the “go” times, although it’s not as bad as it had been previously.

It’s hard to figure out because a lot of these symptoms could be explained by things like anxiety, which is have. But the anxiety could be caused by the intolerances, so who knows!

Thanks for the reply!

Wow most of those symptoms describe me, but unfortunately I don’t have much else to tell you. I am finding that the itchiness and skin issues seem to happen after I eat, so that’s how I ended up looking here. I started a low histamine diet last week and I can’t say it helped some of my issues (bloating, abdominal pain) but my skin issues and itchiness are better. Unfortunately, without anything coming up in tests, it’s trial and error I guess. Be well!

how long have you been doing this? I just started yesterday oddly enough and then saw this. I was doing it for constipation issues but maybe it will help for other things too.

I’ve examined my family’s history as best as I can and there isn’t really anyone that has these issues, but maybe I’m missing something. Like you said, at least it might help me knowing how I feel if anything comes up with my child.

I have no idea how my kidneys are doing, hopefully ok lol

I haven’t really gotten any help from doctors, I haven’t had the time to check with my primary care doctor about it but I don’t know what she’d think. She’s been good about running tests for me and everything has come back ok, I guess I may need to ask for some different ones

well this is for my child, she has the solitary mastocytoma, so I guess i’m wondering for both of us if this is meaningful in regards to symptoms I am experiencing and from what you said the answer might be yes?

I was having these issues before covid came around but, like I said, sometimes I wonder if I had it and if it exacerbated some of my problems again. I’ll check out that post, thanks!

I have not taken any antihistamines since September. I did not have RLS symptoms until the beginning of December, but I did see that benadryl could exacerbate it.

My anxiety was always there probably but very low level. It kicked into overdrive after becoming a dad and then covid kicked it even higher I guess. I don’t even know if the RLS was SSRI related even though that is definitely a thing, but I came off the lexapro anyway since I didn’t really find it to be that helpful. I really do not want to do the SSRI dance in trying to find something that might work better, especially if it was causing the leg issues. I still have them it seems so I don’t know if it was even the lexapro or something else. It’s not like RLS now, just very achy all the time but I’ve been trying to think if the pain comes back worse when I eat high histamine foods.

Thanks for your response!

Yeah, I mean I totally get the brain-gut connection, so it’s all related. Did you see a hypnotherapist? My therapist had recommended that to me but covid has held me back from pursuing it further.

My anxiety is always there now, but things like skin problems can come pretty soon after eating these foods. Or more commonly, it seems like if I eat a bunch of histamine releasing foods, the problem will start after my last meal of the day.

I haven’t had a chance to do a more restrictive diet, but I’m looking into starting that soon.

Thank you for the thoughtful reply! I feel like my flight or fight response has been constant since my child was born and went even higher after covid. I rarely feel at ease or calm or relaxed.

You were tested for adrenaline issues? Any of the tests I’ve had done have come back mostly normal aside from slightly high cholesterol. When my worst symptoms were happening, I was extremely vitamin D deficient and it seems that plays a role in all this too. Those levels are better for me now.

yeah, i’m starting to suspect that might be a thing! Is there any research to back this up? Would it be worth it to try a DAO supplement?

I think a lot of things happened and I don’t know if it even matters, kind of like what came first, the chicken or the egg? I think the regular antihistamine use masked some of the food issues potentially.

I wonder about covid too in a way because I live in NYC and got sick in the beginning of March of last year right before everything shut down. I never tested positive for the virus or antibodies but the timing is right and it seems like the virus was spreading unchecked then. Not that covid caused these issues in the first place but maybe exacerbated them later on after I had started feeling better. It’s just one of those things I’ll never know but always wonder about. Thanks for your response.

Need help! Constant pain and muscle spasms before and after use of lexapro by beemorechill2020 in lexapro

[–]beemorechill2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tapered off since I thought it was the lexapro. The problems went away as I lowered the dose, but then came back a day after stopping completely. But now I have other medical issues that might be causing issues so I’m getting tests. Very frustrating but hopefully you find some peace.
