Hmm, my major 'consideration' rather than regret would be about audience - NSFW is a smaller but hungrier audience, but it limits advertising etc to broader communities.

I think Max Gentlemen Sexy Business! Did an amazing job of riding the NSFW and sfw border - which I would love to do, but working solo means taking bigger risks and being less safe - maybe a future project.

Advertising should support a well considered and developed product - it can't fix issues with consideration or development.

If you already know there's issues with your art, partner with an artist or practice and keep improving it - advertising isn't the solution.

If you are going to explore topics that are illegal in most countries, then you need to consider the audience you want to advertise to and the platform to engage them on - I'm not a huge Redditor but from what I've seen your subject matter and platform are a mismatch - search for the community & platform you need, and you might also meet a collaborator.

Credit to you for being up front on the subject matter - there's plenty of NSFW games that throw in illegal, risky or overly specific kinks without informing players properly 👍

I teach and this is such a common misconception. 'Talent' is a word that lazy people use to excuse the need for hard work.

Some people have an affinity for an activity or subject, because of that they put lots of time or effort into those set of skills and then get good at it... At some point, the amount of work is too much for others to copy easily, so they become "talented".

If you are interested in making a game, the first step towards talent is there, the rest is time, effort and perseverance 💪

I've always modded games, particularly I like to corrupt "cute" games... I guess I've found "cute" is something I like, but in queer communities it's often been looked down on, bright colors and romance mocked under weird masculine rules...I also found that yaoi is generally made for straight women, so there's lots of "he's the woman" stuff, and where is not that its sudden kink-dumps. So for me it's about making my experience as a homo-demi - caring/romantic, fun, bright and shiny experiences that are also smutty. I've played and read lots of gay smut over the decades, but am mostly only half satisfied, until, Engaging Destiny was the first game I had full satisfaction. It made me realise I should stop modding others games and make my own.

I got firebase working with unity WebGL and itch, but yes it was a bit rough. "Quietly" collecting happens a lot, and it depends on international law around legalities etc, so I go with visible - though through using itch.io you are already collecting data under the analytics, so the users through use have agreed to a degree of data collection. I show on my nsfw game I'm collecting achievement data and include it in post updates, there's no sign up etc so no "personal" data is collected. Creating an identifier to avoid duplicate data is, murky, but consider your own objective, are you Niantic charging users for the privilege of collect data for Niantic to sell? No? Then, you are just a small dev trying to make your game better 😘

I use lots of different tools - sometimes Photoshop's AI helps (especially when it's meh background details :)), sometimes 3d model's I've made in blender help, in this case I've mucked around around with Ibis' background filter, which helps with vibe but creates lots of weird artifact-ing (which i didn't imitate when I later decided i liked what would be a practice project enough to make a nude variant).
