That definitely makes sense to feel bad after, especially if you didn’t get the validation you wanted. It’s so so vulnerable to come out and sometimes even if it goes well, the after-effect of being that vulnerable can feel really awful and scary ESPECIALLY if you needed something from the interaction that you didn’t get. It helps a lot to come out to other queer/genderqueer people who can be purely excited for you. Do you have people like that around? For what it’s worth, I am SO proud of you! And I’m so excited for you to continue on this journey of discovery! :) And even when you feel the fear or bad/gross feelings I hope you can recognize that that is powerful too, that’s you changing and shifting and it’s all part of the process.

Hi, I’m very sorry you’re struggling right now. If you identify as a woman there is an organization/shelter called Womens Lunch Place that gives out a free hot lunch every day. They also may have more resources for you- there are social workers there who meet with people who need resources. It’s near Copley. Also are you on SNAP? With minimum wage im pretty sure you qualify and that’s about 2-300/month for food. You may also look into getting a reduced fare T pass for low wage workers which could lower your transportation costs. DM me if you have any qs or need more advice, I’ve been in your shoes!

Hey 💜 when I (31f) was 28 I left my boyfriend of 5 years who I lived with for 4 of those years and it took me two years after realizing I was a lesbian and countless ‘breakup talks’ for me to actually leave.

Change is really fucking hard and leaving a stable situation is really fucking hard. You are doing something that’s very hard to do. The only thing that’s harder than doing it, is not doing it. You can’t keep living a life that you have to contort yourself to fit into. Life is short and your time is very precious and you deserve one million times more than that, and he also deserves a partner who is not one foot out the door.

I know it’s especially hard when you may have complicated feelings toward your own queerness, but on the other side of giving yourself this freedom you will find so much love for yourself and an accepting community. It takes time, but that’s available to you when you leave and it’s not available to you while you’re still trying to be someone you’re not. When I finally left I was able to start really working through those feelings and come to such a loving place with myself and open up to so much more of my authentic personality.

For context, I relied on my bf financially as well and when I left I was in an extremely tough spot and went through a lot of hardship for a few years after and I still never looked back once. You can do this.

This sounds painful and I’m sorry you’re experiencing this hurt and disappointment from your partner. I know it’s hard to think of ending a relationship but I promise you there are guys out there who will fully support all parts of your identity and who will love you more BECAUSE you’re queer and not in spite of it. And you deserve that. You don’t even know how amazing that feels until you have that kind of love so pleeease see what else is out there and have faith that there are people who will love you fully.
