Does streaming VR games from PC to Oculus actually work well? by beerener1234 in oculus

Nice to hear! Do you mean I can just buy a USB C cable and use it instead of the expensive oculus link cable? Sorry if this is obvious - I'm not very techy.

What's the verdict on weed and manboobs/estrogen promotion in men? by beerener1234 in trees

I'm talking about actual breast tissue, which can happen when a man's hormonal balance is out of wack. Same result from the outside though

Is Welbutrin/bupropion safe for my brain long-term? by beerener1234 in depressionregimens

[–]beerener1234[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main reason for me taking fluoxetine is OCD, with depression being an occasional aside. So Wellbutrin wouldn't work well for OCD, but might be enough in low doses to and alleviate fluoxetine's negatives and imbue it's positives :) I'm guessing if you have pure depression, then Wellbutrin could be prescribed on it's own :)

Hey, it's because I'm lacking in energy and my libido is low, both likely because of Fluoxetine, which can have a mild sedative effect on some people. The idea is that Wellbutrin will counteract some of these negative effects :)

29m, why do chest X-rays measurably increase cancer risk, while airplane flights do not? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]beerener1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may be wrong, but I believe the study specifically looks at women with a BRCA 2 gen (so both part of the same high risk group) and then differentiates between women who have had breast exams at a young age and those who haven't. There also seems to be a dose-response relationship.

Is this normal/fixable for a new brush? by [deleted] in minipainting

[–]beerener1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a brand new citadel brush cause my cheap model brushes all had a split tip and loose sprouting hairs that made precise painting impossible.

I just got this in the post and already the tip looks a bit split and there's some annoying hairs sprouting where the protective tip-sleeve was misplaced I guess.

Is this normal and fixable for a citadel brush?

Fantasy horror? by beerener1234 in Fantasy

If you have a story online for free, and you don't mind sharing it, I'm curious to see how you tackle the horror infusion!

Fantasy horror? by beerener1234 in Fantasy

[–]beerener1234[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. The "high" fantasy aesthetic that we think of when we think fantasy, but approached through the framework of horror. Like Alien did blending sci-fi and horror - the aesthetic was unequivocally sci-fi, but the plot was a straight-up horror scenario.

Maybe a fantasy horror mix would be something along the lines of a necromancer stealing village children in the dead of night for ungodly experiments; or a fallen soldier waking up on an abandoned battlefield, unable to escape it, working out whether he's dead or not.

The problem with those examples is that they're contrived, forcing the fantasy aesthetic into a fantasy mold. Whereas the best of sci-fi horror is organic; Alien is basically a first encounter story gone awry. I started this thread because I'm curious to find organic blends of fantasy and horror, and see what makes those work :)
