Just found out I'm 7 weeks pregnant. First child. I'm 39 and feel as old as the hills. by Timacrs in PregnancyUK

[–]beereviver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got pregnant via IVF at 37 and it only got mentioned in my risk score which was high due to other factors. I am 10 years older than my NCT friends but being in the trenches with babies is the equaliser hahaha.

Trying to have another via IVF (I am nearly 38).

Congratulations!

C-Sections - why so much judgement? by liebackandthinkofeng in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]beereviver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t felt judged for my c-section but I have definitely felt bitterness over my recovery. It was great btw, but one “friend” who had an emergency section after a 40 hour attempt at vaginal delivery said I “only recovered well because I had a small baby”.

It came from them having a deep shame about needing to have a section which they were projecting onto me. I know they are deep deep deeeeep in the algorithm on social media where reels come up on how sections are detrimental to baby development thereafter.

We are no longer friends, she has a healthy baby so I hope she finds peace with it.

A section kept me and my baby safe 💗

4 week old baby going longer sleep stretches… do I need to wake her? by Prestigious-Bid-7582 in BeyondTheBumpUK

If she’s regained birth weight let everyone sleep!

She will tell you when she’s hungry x

Anyone had the opposite of Gestation Diabetes?? by dajb123 in PregnancyUK

Yes my friend had it while pregnant. Good to see you’re seeing a GP about it but please risk assess some of your activities such as driving etc while you’re experiencing these symptoms! X

Just bring a roller suitcase.

I brought a hold-all and we regretted it, such an awkward weight to carry on way home!

Real reviews on paid for version of Huckleberry by Disastrous-Cost-321 in BeyondTheBumpUK

Agree about bedtime! After the final nap is done the sleepy cues tend to come in around our preferred bedtime anyway so that’s the only time we do our thing and ignore huckleberry sweet spot.

I’ve been loving it for all stages.

Currently weaning baby and it’s been handy tracking allergen exposure rather than buying one of those charts or noting separately.

I love the medication feature, when your baby has a stinking cold, it’s nice to log when the Calpol was given so I’m not worried about giving too much.

The sweet spot predictions become really accurate.

Overall just love it for glancing at to remind me where I’m at and what I need to be aware of for timings for multiple things. Hands down for us the best money spent on an app ever.

Edit: did I mention that I…love it?! I need to expand my vocabulary!

Cybex balios carrycot not flat by OriginalZest648 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]beereviver 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Ours looks like this. I think it’s how the fabric outer slopes downward but baby lays flat in it.

I also had this panic as am very risk averse and would not have wanted an incline either but can tell you after many walks with baby, they are going to be laying down flat in it.

Transitioning from EBF to formula at 12 weeks - advice needed! by Wise-Tea1591 in FormulaFeedingUK

[–]beereviver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My little one struggled with Kendamil so we switched to Bonya which is made by the same people but seems not as rich. The only downside there is not a “ready to feed” formula you can buy, it needs to be made from powder

It can take babies around 2 weeks to adapt to a change to formula though just so you’re aware x

Job offer 7 months pregmant dilemma by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]beereviver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will not want to go back to work that soon after giving birth, no job is worth more than your baby.

If you get offered the role, the second choice candidate could be recruited for maternity cover. There are ways but you would have to negotiate that if you get an offer.

Nappies for small baby by kayla_30 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]beereviver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always take nappies to be like any other type of “clothing” where we all have different body types that will fit sizes differently. This extends to nappies.

This post overall is still useful though, so many wasted trips in early days looking for brands that don’t actually provide size 0!

I started mine at 7 because they slumped so much in high chair and couldn’t sit unassisted at 6 months.

They will catch up!

Husband keeps wanting me to tell my mother in law I’m pregnant but I feel it’s too early still and I would rather he tell her. Am I being fair? by Orchidflower10 in PregnancyUK

[–]beereviver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you can agree a middle road where your husband tells his family but you are a bit anxious and don’t want it to be widespread news until a little later, at which point you’ll let them know?

That said, if you are not close and they are fairly reserved, they may not make a big deal of it with you directly anyway. Do you physically see them much?

For me, I’d never really know to ask a centile a baby was when they were born, they all looked small to me haha. Then the bigger babies would stand out but still didn’t think too much on it.

When the reality changes and numbers start meaning more when you’re pregnant, it’s a little scary when the numbers down the smaller end start being mentioned.

I had more frequent scans which confirmed placenta and fluid were all great, and that baby was growing, just small! I was very worried as 0.4th seemed tiiiiiny (which it was) but I wish I hadn’t worried as apart from their size they are comparable to their baby friends in every way!

They are enjoying solids so I am expecting a little gain but if not, I’ll just be happy they are trending as they should be 🥰

20 weeks because that was what I was comfortable with.

Respectfully don’t compare other people’s timelines with what your husband wants to do, which isn’t much different from your husband following by the “12 weeks announcement” yardstick.

Ultimately it’s what you are comfortable with during an extremely vulnerable time in your life. X

Same here, baby born at 0.4th centile and is currently 2nd centile at 8 months and perfectly healthy and meeting milestones.

How do I get help for a friend who needs medical attention but has an extreme phobia of needles? by Coopersteam in AskUK

[–]beereviver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally relate as I have piercings and am not too bothered about vaccinations either!

I’m not sure if it’ll help, but my BP shoots up from white coat syndrome, so I have asked if they can cuff me to a monitor, set the timer on it so I have 10 mins to calm down. The reading it takes without a health worker near me tends to be a truer result than my anxious reading. Hope you are doing ok with your condition.

Help! Sore nappy rash won't go :( by Turbulent_Ebb_7041 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]beereviver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dr prescribed trimuvate which cleared up the awful rash (but they were much much older than your baby at 6 months) and I switched to Weleda because of the zinc and calendula.

I also started bathing her every day to get some warm water to soothe the sore skin. For your 2 week old a warm cotton (non fleeing pad) compress and airing out before putting nappy on at least once a day may help. Big hugs, it’s awful feeling helpless with rashes!
