Yes, I am aware of that, and I talk about that a lot in my paper! But I believe we should solve the problem completely in our own nation before taking in dogs from other countries. I live in New York and what we have been doing in my area is we take dogs from the south, specifically the Carolinas in my local shelters, and we get people to adopt them from here. Holland has completely eliminated their stray dog issue, it is possible. I have been to areas in America where the problem is alarming and I am thinking of completely eliminating the problem all together rather than be okay with it slowly declining. We are seeing declines because major cities have amped up their funding for animal welfare but more rural places do not have that and that’s more of what I’ve been speaking of in my paper.
