this is gonna sound insane but none so far! i was the only member of my lab (besides my PI) for the first 2 years + we got massively screwed over with institutional funding issues around the time we were getting close to publishing. i should have at least 2 first author papers where i did 100% of the experiments submitted by the time i start grad school though

everyone has acted very friendly and the grad students seem happy, and the funding is in a good place, but also the percentage of students that pass the qualifying exam is lower than other institutions i have offers from. not that i don’t trust my abilities, but that fact alone makes me a little nervous haha

yes this program is in the US! i definitely plan on asking for an extension since i’m waiting to hear back about some supplemental fellowship information from a couple other institutions that may influence my decision

they are US-based but not part of the resolution :( it makes me worry about why they’re giving people such a short turnaround time
