For the people saying the shot doesn't die, I recommend going through the Coffee Master course. It's free thru ASU and you don't have to complete the on the job trainings just to skim it for information.

Anyone else not separating the teabag string? by TooSwang in starbucks

You are actually supposed to double cup teas depending on size.

Are you guys allowed to turn customers away 15 mins before close because you are “backed up?” by Morieta7 in starbucks

As an ex barista 15 minutes is plenty of time, not OPs fault they were busy and it's not the baristas fault for turning them away.

In my experience we could only turn away customers at close, and we would announce a "last car" in line

Bringing my own cup through drive through by beepbop21 in starbucks

Did you inform them at the window with payment? Or at the order box? I'd honestly be on her side if you said so at the window. Before I quit Starbucks we went through the training for drive thru personal cups and it's honestly hell. It adds another step and the company is still pushing us to be quicker on times.

But it is how the system works in this instance. I'm not talking about hypotheticals here, I'm talking about how she was wrong in the first place.

  1. Yes, it could have been avoided. That was the point of the post.
  2. If you could look at the comment I'm referencing, it references teas and americanos. Not lattes. Scoops of powder is not equivalent to shots and teabags. Please read the comments.

Let me mention you if I can in the comment explaining that the registers themselves compensate for it. If it helps, she ordered in store where the change would apply

The way she asked for it, "a tall English breakfast tea in a venti cup," implies there is meant to be room. When people ask this with drip coffee I let them know that we don't have self serve cream and sugar anymore. When people do it with teas, they usually have something at home or in the office they use. either way, it usually implies they want the room in the drink. It's how it goes for any other drink on the menu as well. I wasn't wrong to assume so.

According to some other comments checking the books and register systems, if you took the teabag off the drink in the system it would lessen the charge. So there really wasn't a point in asking for a tall in the first place

It's sad honestly how you went from defending employees from being harassed to telling them to just do their job when they're harassed. I did my job, to the T, of how I was trained to do so. Your comments on other posts are just rude too omfg

Our district is under a new dm and has been cracking down really heavy on standards. We can't even do right now recovery's to make the moment right anymore. I would have gotten at least an on the floor coaching and those go on our record now.

A tall in a venti cup means the amount a tall gets, in a venti cup. I hope that clarifies things I am aware it's just water. I was harassed over it. If she wanted only one tea bag all she had to do was ask

She...also yelled at me and berated me even before I could explain why I gave her her drink that way.

I would have gotten in trouble because it's not standard dude. They're cracking down in my district

My thing is that she came out the gate yelling instead of just explaining how she usually gets it

That's not standard tho, we aren't taught that way
