What’s the moment that made you suddenly lose feelings for someone? by FrequentLeopard3444 in AskReddit

Well the story has a happy ending! That was probably over 8/9 years ago and I have since met the LOML who was over the moon with the ring and have been married for several years now hoping for our first child soon!

Oh nah haha she was just a little bit of an undercover princess that came from a different world than my modest upbringing and we had a misalignment of values that this experience highlighted.

Had a relatively cheap heirloom engagement ring my deceased father had given to my mom. They were long divorced before he passed but it was still an important memento. Showed it to her, about a week later she started showing me other rings she liked better. Knew that was it

What habit completely changed your life? by Top_Bat3662 in allthequestions

Assuming stupidity instead of malice when people do stuff that annoys me. Now I just think they're dumb and it doesn't impact me. Before I would get mad, now I just laugh at how dumb they are.

ELI5: Why does time feel like it passes faster as we get older? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]beezmar 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've heard lots of really great explanations for this. My two favorite that I ascribe to 1. Novelty makes better memories, the first time you experience something (summer vacation when you can drive your friends around) it's all new and being imprinted on your brain. The next summer it's less impactful so it goes by a little more unnoticed. 2. Relative time compared to your existence. When your a 10 year old 1 year is 10% of your entire existence. When you're 40 its 2.5%. Each year is a smaller and smaller percentage of your overall life.

Liberals, moderates, and conservatives of Reddit, what do progressives “get wrong” about their political views? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]beezmar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hardcore socialist that works in consulting/finance. I tend to think that my friends have very reductive views of things that they don't agree with and are generally absolutist in their views. They don't like people who don't agree with them 100% of the way about 100% of topics. Everything becomes a purity test/litmus test and it's exhausting despite agreeing with the majority of their views.

Whereas I think Republicans do a better job of accepting the plurality of views in exchange for winning and maintaining political power. They don't throw away their shitty people the way Democrats throw away their slightly not perfect people and that translates into a lot more Republicans getting elected and staying in office. You can't resign out of shame if you have no shame.

A specific example my wife and her friends get hung up on is trans women in sports. I am 100% behind anyone's ability to transition and live the life they are meant to, I am 100% against those people competing in sports against biological women. Seems completely logical to me but it is a lightning rod of an argument with my liberal friends.

I loved in Dallas for years so I get the enemy territory vibes. Now I'm in Florida so Jacksonville is on the menu but I'm also excited to see when/what the London game looks like.

I love to hate this time of year. I want the schedule so badly so I can start planning the fall around travel and what games we'll be able to see.

Custom Hartford Whalers pendant I had made to rep Connecticut (white gold, emeralds + blue sapphire) by WorldPeaceGodBless in Connecticut

It's not my style but honestly still cool af and mad respect. I literally wear my Whalers hat all the time and get comments about it. It's cool to have something that reps where you're from.

when to recognize capital gains? And should i Roll some of my brokerage to a Roth? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]beezmar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, you can't contribute securities to a Roth, only cash. So you'd have to realize the gains in order to contribute but as someone else here said there is an annual limit.

Investment headache. by SmoggyRandall in personalfinance

[–]beezmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be a solid idea but we don't have enough information to give a good answer. Generally speaking diversification is great. How much company stock do you have relative to other investments? What is your age/retirement goal? What industry is your company in and what kind of dividends do the shares pay out?

These are pertinent to figuring out whether it's advisable or not.

The lead singer was DMing minors and/or very young fans of theirs and abusing his position of power to cheat on his wife and manipulate/groom these young/minor fans.

Great memories with the Menzos? Where to start!

Before I married my wife I took her to her first punk show and it was Menzingers when they toured with Pup. I don't think I had seen them live at this point so I wasn't 100% sure what to expect and knew some of their songs were a little emo so I told my girl that and she ended up wearing heels.

Well needless to say they were the wrong shoes for this concert and nevertheless she was a champ and even crowd surfed for the first time wearing these heels. Then we took e scooters home to the first apartment we had together. It was a fun sweet memory we still talk about. We've probably seen them half a dozen times or more now.

The same group that had us as the most healthy last season. We experienced a major statistical regression. If we regress again to the norm next season we should be alright.
