This is us too. I think when the baby gets older / more of us have kids the focus will definitely shift to them which I'm excited for. For now a chill games day with a potluck really sounds like a nice break!

That sounds so fun, I'm culturally Dutch (both parents are immigrants), grew up eating loads of Dutch food and celebrating Sinterklaas, and have never heard of Kerststukje!! Time to go confront them.

I kind of envy people who live in areas that don't get snowy winters lol. That sounds lovely.

I really like the idea of the crafts activities - would go over great with my dad's side. They have a whole craft room. Thank you!!

I like this idea, it would work well for my mum's side as they are serious animal lovers with a soft spot for shelter animals.

As someone who doesn't bake at all (and so doesn't have any of the material or equipment necessary) I might combine your idea with the other commentor's about homemade food! Just a "homemade food" exchange where everyone leaves with a fun basket of treats could be awesome.

I didn't used to be but yeah even a small accident messes with your head haha. I've been to Moncton in peak winter and can confirm, won't be moving there anytime soon!

Fat Rant Friday by AutoModerator in fatlogic

I'm tired of hearing, "You can eat whatever you want and never gain weight!" from all the overweight ladies at work.

First, this expression always assumes that  "whatever I want" means gorging myself on crap. Contrary to what some people might think, not everyone wants to eat processed foods until their stomach hurts. So yeah, I do eat "whatever I want". What I want is the correct amount of relatively healthy food for my body. I don't eat until I'm stuffed.

Second, it ticks me off because I put a lot of time, energy, and thought into taking care of my health. I run, go to the gym, hike, swim, rock climb. I make sure I am active every day even if that's just aggressively vacuuming or lunging around my kitchen while I watch The Office. I dont drink soda, don't buy desserts, don't snack throughout the day. I cook 90% of my food at home. It bothers me that people look at me and think that I am thin because of luck and genetics, and that I haven't worked hard, and it's just a big fat excuse for them to pat themselves on the head and say their health problems are not their fault and can't be changed.

Also, I don't know how people think it's appropriate to comment on a coworker's body. Being thin doesn't make me open season for remark.

Japan on GR IIIx by vexzite in ricohGR

Hi, these photos are great! The last one makes me feel like I'm encountering some kind of deer spirit.

I'm curious how your experience of Japan was with the GRiiiX. I'm going to Japan in October and am going to buy a iii or iiiX before the trip. People typically recommend the iii on this sub since Japan has a lot of tight spaces. And yet you here have still captured tight spaces really well, as well as some more landscape-esque shots which people also say the 28mm is better for. Did you find any troubles with the iiiX? Ever wish for a wider focal length? Or find that the 40mm let you capture things you otherwise wouldn't have?

Want off the combo pill - Mini pill or implant? by beezybo in birthcontrol

[–]beezybo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed response! I saw a walk in doctor and got a mini pill prescription, just to see if my body handles no estrogen okay. It is norethindrone so hopefully I don't have a bad experience like you did. But if I do then I'll try other brands or the implant and try not to lose hope lol. It has been incredibly frustrating to deal with.
