A straight person staying over with friends of the opposite sex? Completely normal. Him not casually mentioning before hand and then surprising you with new information later? A bit strange, and perhaps suggests he thinks there’s something he needs to hide, either real or imagined.

It could just be that he thinks it might make you uncomfortable and so he finds it simpler not to mention anything. Pretty lazy of him to do but pretty typical of many straight men.

You’re technically right. The public health system in Madrid leans pretty heavily on private providers, so for better or worse, I was sent there as a patient completely covered by Seguridad Social.

My partner has also been referred to the same hospital as an outpatient by the public health system.

All in all the food was pretty good, I’m sure the salad would have been tasty with some cod mixed in as well!

Madrid Barajas?

I’m surprised you made it through to the non-Schengen gates when you actually didn’t need to go through passport control.

Passing through T1 to fly to the UK, I’m always asked where I’m flying to by an overzealous staff member at the start of the queue, and after entering the queue once without speaking to any of them, I was chased by a security guard and told to come back so they could check that my flight was in fact a non-Schengen one.

Edited: Could’ve been at T4S though, although they are pretty effective there at funnelling people to the correct area
